I am somewhat mystified — and dismayed — by the spectacle of a lot of so-called conservatives who weren't around in the 1980s dropping Ronald Reagan's name to promote themselves while they go about slandering Newt Gingrich who, like my dad, was there in the '80s and '90s and also helped him elect more Republicans than anyone else in recent memory.

It's long been an unfortunate characteristic of too many Republicans to engage in internecine warfare — standing in a circle as they fire volleys at each other. The current fashion of the day is to take aim and fire at one of the GOP's most storied and valuable members, doing Obama's work towards destroying Newt Gingrich in advance of the 2012 presidential election.

They seem to forget — or simply ignore — my dad's 11th Commandment, that Republicans must refrain from publicly speaking ill of one another. After all, the other party sufficiently fulfills that function without any help from Republicans.

As leader of GOP forces in the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich was the party's leading warrior — a politician who never feared to speak his mind. Naturally he made enemies, some within his own party. And it is those enemies and their successors who are out to get Newt's scalp today. Moreover, it is important to remember that Newt was Ronald Reagan's champion on Capitol Hill. My father knew and appreciated that fact.

Look, I know that Newt has rubbed a lot of his fellow Republicans the wrong way, but that is the inevitable result when a leader does his job. He simply can't satisfy everybody, and those who attempt to do so comprise the GOP's wobbly liberal wing.

Leading the charge against Newt are supporters of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. They do the governor no favors by linking him to the GOP's small but vociferous liberal wing, which doesn't like warriors. Newt is a warrior who cherishes any opportunity to go into battle, flags flying.

This being an election year, we can expect various factions of the GOP to seek to modify the tenets of traditional Republicanism. They prefer to shrink away from any hard fighting. Newt is the exact opposite; he relishes the joys of hard combat on behalf of conservative American principles. That upsets some of his fellow Republicans, who are more like the mother who asks what her children are doing upstairs, and when told they are engaging in some horrible behavior says, "That's nice, don't fight."

Newt fights. Real Republicans need fighters, not mealy-mouthed compromisers who shrink away from any form of combat. He may stray away from what many of his GOP colleagues consider proper Republican behavior. But Newt is ready and able to take the fight to Obama, and he will win that fight unless the compromisers have their way.

Snopes usually, not always, isolates origins of Internet rumors, etc.

In this case, Snopes added some 'opinion' that was somewhat apologetic by its ignoring the 'terrorist' aspects that are mandated in the Quran. This 'opinion' diluted the apparent correctness of the content in the original story as expressed in the email in question.

Usually I check some of the sites on my 'hoaxes' page to determine the veracity of emails that I receive before I post on my blog. I should have checked the origin of the email; however, after reading Snopes' commentary, the original message appears affirmed.

I occasionally read my copy of the Quran to learn whether some of the quotes attributed to it and claims made for/against Islam's teachings as quoted in some emails, that I receive, are correct. In this case, it seems that Snopes comingled a mixture of Old Testament rules with the precepts of New Testament beliefs so as to confuse Christanity's view of Islam (which did not exist in Biblical times.)

On the other hand, the Quran is clear on its orders to the followers of Islam on how "non-believers" will be treated. It is not a pretty picture.

Sharia is, more often than not, contrary to American law and in most instances is contrary to America's Judeao-Christian Heritage, Traditions, and our Constitutional protections. And, regretfully, self espoused 'imams' often preach that Sharia will replace all of Western Civilization's non-Muslim rules. I doubt that will come to pass ...nor peaceably. Often, they attempt to justify their hatred vehemently against Western ways of life and religion through "Crusades" arguments. In context of the times of the Crusades, arguments are clear that the wars against Islam by Christianity were in response to Islam's militant invasions into the West. Not withstanding atrocities on both sides, using the Crusades today as justification for the atrocities committed by today's Jihadists exposes the weakness of their own 'feet of clay' arguments against "non-believers."

One need not look farther than how Christians, Jews and faiths other than Islam, are being treated today throughout Muslim controlled areas of the world to understand that for non-Muslims, Islam is in its application, not "a religion of tolerance." At the same time, "political correctness" of some Western leaders only encourages further attacks against our values and very lives. Hopefully, in America's case, the November 6 election will remove "political correctness" from our nation's agenda.

     Think about this e-mail and see if there's anything here you don't believe!
     I hadn't thought about this - but where are Obama's past girlfriends surely he had at least one? No past girl friends popping up anywhere?
     Strange - strange to the point of being downright weird!
     OK, this is just plain old common sense, no political agendas for either side. Just common knowledge for citizens of a country, especially American citizens, who know every little tidbit about every other president (and their wives) that even know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused of adultery, or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace, or Truman played the piano.
     We are Americans! Our media vets these things out! We are known for our humanitarian interests and caring for our 'fellow man.' We care, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president.
     Honestly, and this is a personal thing... but it's bugged me for years that no one who ever dated him ever showed up.
     Taken his charisma, which caused the women to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some lady would not have missed the opportunity.
     We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed.
     Biden's aneurisms are no secret. Look at Cheney and Clinton- we all know about their heart problems. How could I have left out Wild Bill before or during the White House?
     Nope... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy," or "What a great dancer!" Now look at the rest of what we know... no classmates, not even the recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him.
     Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Check for groomsmen. Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony.
     Has anyone talked to the professors? Isn't it odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.
     When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos?
     Every president provides the public with all their photos, etc. for their library. What has he released? Nada - other than what was in this so-called biography! And experts who study writing styles etc. claim it was not O's own words or typical of his speech patterns, etc.
     Does this make any of you wonder?
     Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama's past, saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc? Not one person has ever come forward from his past.
     This should really be a cause for great concern. Did you see the movie titled, The Manchurian Candidate?
     Let's face it. As insignificant as we all are... someone whom we went to school with remembers our name or face... someone remembers we were the clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something about us.
     George Stephanopoulos, ABC News said the same thing during the 2008 campaign. Even George questions why no one has acknowledged that the president was in their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on campus. Stephanopoulos was a classmate of Obama at Columbia-class of 1984. He says he never had a single class with him. Since he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class remember him?
     And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records?
     Do you like millions of others, simply assume all this is explainable - even though no one can?
     NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA.
     Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but not one remembers him.
     For example, Wayne Allyn Root was (like Obama) a political science major at Columbia, who graduated in 1983.
     In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a single classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia ... EVER!
     Nobody recalls him.
     Root adds that he was, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that.. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him."
     At our 20th class reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack!
     And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was.
     The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, 'the macha' who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him."
     Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook, and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia.
     How can this be?
NOTE: Wayne Allyn Root can easily be verified. He graduated valedictorian from his high school, Thornton - Donovan School, then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same '83 class in which Barack Hussein Obama states he was.
     Some other interesting questions.
     Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002?
     Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by court order?
     According to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack Obama - but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases.. WHAT!? The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is never reported to have lived.
No wonder all his records are sealed!
     Please continue sending this out to everyone. Somewhere, someone had to know him in school... before he "reorganized" Chicago and burst upon the scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention and made us swoon with his charm, poise, and speaking pizzazz.
     One of the biggest CONs this country has ever seen, and getting away with it. This is scary on many levels!

Virtually every major Western leader has over the past several years expressed the view that Islam is a peaceful religion and that those who commit violence in its name are fanatics who misinterpret its tenets. This claim, while widely circulated, rarely attracts serious public examination. Relying primarily on Islam's own sources, this documentary demonstrates that Islam is a violent, expansionary ideology that seeks the destruction or subjugation of other faiths, cultures, and systems of government.
Content.
The documentary consists of original interviews, citations from Islamic texts, Islamic artwork, computer-animated maps, footage of Western leaders, and Islamic television broadcasts. Its tone is sober, methodical, and compelling.
Outline of the Documentary.
Introduction.
We hear from prominent Western leaders that Islam is peaceful and that those who commit violence in its name are heterodox fanatics.
Part 1: 'There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Prophet'
Our interviewees affirm their belief that Islamic violence is entirely orthodox behavior for Muslims and stems directly from the teachings and example of the Prophet Muhammad and the commands of the Koran. We learn that the example of Muhammad is one of a violent warlord who killed numerous people. The Koran -- the verbatim words of Allah -- prescribes violence against non-Muslims and Muhammad is the perfect example of the Koran in action.
Part 2: The Struggle
We learn that jihad, while literally meaning 'struggle', in fact denotes war fought against non-Muslims in order to bring the rule of Islamic law to the world. Violent death in jihad is, according to the Koran, the only assurance of salvation. One of our interviewees tells of his personal involvement in terrorism and his leaving Islam.
Part 3: Expansion
Following the death of Muhammad, his 'rightly-guided' successors carried his wars to three continents, fighting, enslaving, and massacring countless Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and others. Islam did not spread through evangelism or through its natural appeal, but through aggressive wars of conquest. The Crusades were largely a belated response on the part of Christian Europe to rescue Christians in the Holy Land suffering under Muslim oppression. The Muslim world today, while no longer the unified empire of the Caliphs, is exceptional for being responsible for the vast majority of conflicts around the world and for almost all of international terrorism.
Part 4: 'War is Deceit'
A great problem with Western efforts to understand Islam is due to the Islamic principle of 'religious deception', which enjoins Muslims to deceive non-Muslims in order to advance the cause of Islam. Muslim groups today in the West employ deception and omission to give the impression that 'Islam is a religion of peace', an utter fiction.
Part 5: More than a Religion
The most important characteristic of Islam not understood by the West is that it is more a system of government than a personal religion. Throughout its history, Islam has never recognized a distinction between the religious and the secular/political. Islamic law governs every aspect of religious, political, and personal action, which amounts to a form of totalitarianism that is divinely enjoined to dominate the world, analogous in many ways to Communism.
Part 6: The House of War
Islamic theology divides the world into two spheres locked in perpetual combat, dar al-Islam (House of Islam - where Islamic law predominates), and dar al-harb (House of War - the rest of the world). It is incumbent on dar al-Islam to fight and conquer dar al-harb and permanently assimilate it. Muslims in Western nations are called to subvert the secular regimes in which they now live in accordance with Allah's command. Due to political correctness and general government and media irresponsibility, the danger posed by observant Muslims in the West remains largely unappreciated.

Obama's "no" vote on the IL Senate floor, April 4, 2002
Listen to audio from Obama's 2002 IL Senate floor debate wherein he argued that while babies might be aborted alive, it would be a "burden" to a mother's "original decision" to assess and treat them.

Meanwhile, the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act with a "neutrality clause" added passed the U.S. Senate 98-0, the U.S. House overwhelmingly, and was signed into law August 5, 2002. The pro-abortion group NARAL expressed neutrality on the bill.

2003

Senate Bill 1082, Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Democrats took control of the IL Senate with the 2002 elections. This year Born Alive was sent to the Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Barack Obama.

As can be seen on the vote docket, Obama first voted to amend SB1082 to add the "neutrality clause" from the federal version of Born Alive to the IL version to make them absolutely identical. (DP#1 means "Do Pass Amendment #1.)

Then Obama voted against the identical version. (DPA means, "Do Pass as Amended.)

For 4 years following his 2003 vote Obama misrepresented it, stating the wording of the IL version of Born Alive was not the same as the federal version, and he would have voted for it if so. As recently as August 16, 2008 Obama made this false assertion.

But when evidence presented was irrefutable, Obama's campaign on August 18, 2008, admitted the truth to the New York Sun.

The nonpartison group FactCheck.org has since corroborated Obama voted against identical legislation as passed overwhelmingly on the federal level and then misrepresented his vote.

Post-Election / Pre-Inaugual

November 5, 2008 – Obama selects pro-abortion Rep. Rahm Emanuel as his White House Chief of Staff. Emanuel has a 0% pro-life voting record according to National Right to Life.
November 19, 2008 – Obama picks pro-abortion former Sen. Tom Daschle as his Health and Human Services Secretary. Daschle has a long pro-abortion voting record according to National Right to Life.
November 20, 2008 – Obama chooses former NARAL legal director Dawn Johnsen to serve as a member of his Department of Justice Review Team. Later, he finalizes her appointment as the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Legal Counsel in the Obama administration.
November 24, 2008 – Obama appoints Ellen Moran, the former director of the pro-abortion group Emily's List as his White House communications director. Emily's List only supports candidates who favored taxpayer funded abortions and opposed a partial-birth abortion ban.
November 24, 2008 – Obama puts former Emily's List board member Melody Barnes in place as his director of the Domestic Policy Council.
November 30, 2008 – Obama named pro-abortion Sen. Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State. Clinton has an unblemished pro-abortion voting record and has supported making unlimited abortions an international right.
December 10, 2008 – Obama selects pro-abortion former Clinton administration official Jeanne Lambrew to become the deputy director of the White House Office of Health Reform. Planned Parenthood is "excited" about the selection.
December 10, 2008 – Obama transition team publishes memo from dozens of pro-abortion groups listing their laundry list of pro-abortions actions they want him to take.

    The Daily Caller is reporting House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are not joining the growing calls for Attorney General Eric Holder to resign or be removed from office.
     The Daily Caller reports that Boehner and Cantor press secretaries "balked when asked if their bosses believe Attorney General Eric Holder should resign over Operation Fast and Furious."
     This despite the fact that more than 100 members of the House and every GOP presidential candidate have called for either a "no confidence" vote on Holder or for his removal.
     With Holder scheduled to appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in just 10 days (February 2) to answer questions about the Department of Justice's role in the botched "Fast and Furious" gun scandal, the weak position of these two GOP leaders is crucial.

As we noted last week, Holder now apparently considers himself above the law. Not only has he refused to take any responsibility or even publicly apologize to the family of slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian A. Terry, Holder's Department of Justice has already informed the Committee it will not deliver subpoenaed documents relating to the botched gun-walking scandal as requested.
     As a result, there is a buzz on Capitol Hill that Congress may move forward with contempt of Congress proceedings if Holder fails to produce requested documents -- documents the DOJ has already thumbed their collective noses at.
     Now, we have word that Boehner and Cantor -- the two key GOP leaders in the House -- are dragging their feet on joining the call for Holder's resignation.

There's a brand new job alert out there this week, engineers and developers, and you should hop right on it if you want to help the FBI work on a tool which will provide them with an "Open Source and social media alert, mapping, and analysis application solution." What I want to do right now is, in a very basic way, debunk how this situation will almost certainly be blown out of proportion by the same crew of people that ultimately (and thankfully) took down the SOPA and PIPA bills. This tool, if I'm to trust the job offer I'm reading here from the Federal Business Opportunities website, is not going to be hacking into your personal or secured information in any way. Instead it will be a mass organization and search tool for the FBI to keep track of all social and open source sites on the internet at all times.

If you fear that the information you share with the public on a daily basis will be read by the FBI and you'll get targeted for it, you're in for a sour surprise: they've been reading your posts since the internet was invented. What this tool will be for them is a way to be a bit more omnipotent about it all, it being a "secure, light weight web application portal, using mash-up technology" whatever that means, that "must have the ability to rapidly assemble critical open source information and intelligence that will allow SIOC to quickly vet, identify, and geo-locate breaking events, incidents, and emerging threats." I'm not so sure their "cached and real-time proprietary data" request is all that realistic, but the rest seems like a task that could be attainable by a team of you industrious developers and engineers out there.
One of the main objectives of this future setup the FBI is requesting someone make is:
Provide a user defined operations pictures[sp] (ODOP) that are flexible to support a myriad of functional FBI missions. Examples include but are not limited to: Reconnaissance & Surveillance, NSSE Planning, NSSE Operations, SIOC Operations, Counter Intelligence, Terrorism, Cybercrime, etc.
The reason this comes to our attention is, of course, the specific listing of a set of websites that should, first and foremost, be able to be Searched:
Ability for user to create, define, and select parameters/key word requirements. Automated search of national news, local news, and social media networks. Examples include but are not limited to Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
Another interesting layer lies in the "Map" category for requirements:
Ability to immediately access geospatial maps with coding in addition to providing critical infrastructural layers. Preferred maps include but are not limited to Google Maps, Google 3D maps, ESRI, and Yahoo Maps. The FBI will provide the layers to the selected vendor who must in tern incorporate the layer(s) on the respective geospatial map.
Finally there's a category for requirements that's called "Twitter and other Social Networking Monitoring:
Ability to instantly search and monitor key words and strings in all "publicly available" tweets across the Twitter Site and other "publicly available" social networking sites/forums (i.e. Facebook, MySpace, etc.).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has posted a social media application seeking contractors to build a system that can monitor social media for potential security threats. This news comes from the FBI's Strategic Information and Operations Center (SIOC), which indicates that the system should be able to collect public or "open source" information from social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
The description posted along with the application indicates that the SIOC is looking for something highly flexible, so that agents can maintain alerts, filter data geographically, and quickly adapt to changing security crises. This document contains a comprehensive list of requirements, including abilities to plot global terrorist data, locate embassies, view real-time traffic or mob scenes, and monitor natural disasters.
According to the New Scientist, "The document also suggests that the FBI thinks it can use social media to peer into the future. It notes that agents need to use social media to '[p]redict likely developments in the situation or future actions taken by bad actors (by conducting, [sic] trend, pattern, association, and timeline analysis)'".
While the application document reads like a detailed want ad, the inconspicuous manner in which the plan was revealed has already raised privacy concerns.
According to Mashable, "While privacy advocates have bristled at the idea of social media monitoring, the government position is that if information is public, it's fair game for scraping and monitoring."
Supporting the idea that the application would focus on public, not private, information, the application document lists one of the operational capabilities as "Automated search for national news, local news, and social media networks. Example are included but not limited to Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, Twitter, Facebook, etc."
It even specifies that agents should be able to search "publicly available" tweets.
The New Scientist reports that the FBI declined to comment immediately.

Obama Lied, Death Panels Will Decide, Who Will Live and Who Will Die
What if I told you that members from Obama's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are currently meeting with Doctors from around the country, behind closed doors right now and discussing that when Obamacare kicks in, there will be panels that will decide how much money will be spent on you and what care you may or may not receive, if you should have a stroke or aneurysm or any debilitating accident or ailment, and if you are a certain age, (say 70), they will determine if you are worth the cost of rehabilitation or if it would be more cost affective by putting you in a bed with a feeding tube and calling it "Comfort Care" until you die. And what if I told you that if you were one of these people, you would not be referred to as a patient, you would be called a "Unit"? I would guess you might be slightly concerned, right?
Do you remember once upon a time, when Obama was pushing his massive, government run Obamacare and Sarah Palin and others dared to say that there would be Death Panels that would determine the value of your life or chose what care you or your loved ones would or would not receive, if something bad happened to them, say like a heart attack or stroke? Well, On The Mark Levin show Tuesday Nov 22, 2011, a Neurosurgeon from Chicago called in, and explained how he and other doctors just came from a meeting with members of HHS, where they discussed how in the very near future, there will be "Ethics Panels" that will meet and review a "Unit's" case and deem your worthiness or value depending on age and then make that life or death decisions about a patient... I'm sorry, a "Unit"! That's not at all, dehumanizing! Welcome to Obamacare! It's everything we thought it would be and so much more! But I guess this will make me a fear monger also, oh well!
Yes, Obama's Advanced Neurosurgical Care has new guide lines, about where the money will be spent when Obamacare finally kicks in. And in the previsions, Neurological surgery will be rationed because of it's expense. In other words, if you are a certain age and you have a stroke or aneurysm that requires surgery, your life might not be worth especially if you are not a productive citizen... or Unit! The AANS (The American Association Of Neurosurgeon's) and CNS (The Congress Of Neurosurgeon's) have been notified that when Obamacare becomes active, there will be large cuts in medicines and care and Neurosurgery is one of the most expensive procedures right now. Which also makes you wonder, that last Friday, the FDA banned a last resort and successful cancer drug called Avastin used for aggressive stages of breast cancer, because they claimed it didn't work and had too many side effects, but will still be used on prostate cancer... and because it's very expensive! Was this a casualty of Obamacare also? Who knows, but I wouldn't believe anything that Obama or any his departments have to say!
So let's review....

When Obama said that Obamacare wouldn't make the price of the policy you have now, go up...He Lied!
When Obama said you could keep your own policy and Obamacare wouldn't affect the policy you have now...He Lied!
When Obama said Obamacare does not have death panels that will make decisions on what kind of care you will receive or if it's more cost effective to keep you alive or if you are worthy of living or dying.. He Lied!
When Obama said Obamacare would cut the deficit.... He Lied!
When Obama said he wasn't for a single payer option, but there was tape of him saying that he was.... He Lied!
And when Sarah Palin said there would be Death panels and rationing of heathcare under Obamacare, she was correct and has been Vindicated yet again!      Following Google's announcement of sweeping changes to its privacy policies on Jan. 24, concerns are being raised about possible user profiling and access to user information that could affect federal agencies and employees.
     For example, a privacy watchdog is cautioning that there may be implications for Google's role as a vendor of cloud email, Android mobile solutions and identity management services to federal agencies.
     "Congress should investigate Google's role as a federal contractor in light of its new data collection and profiling practices," Jeff Chester, executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy, wrote in an email to FCW on Jan. 25. "The government should require a better privacy standard from Google when it serves as a federal contractor."

     However, the General Services Administration said its Google Apps for Government are not at risk and are not affected by Google's new privacy policy.
     "The recent changes announced by Google pertain only to their free, publicly available services," the GSA statement said. "These changes do not apply to Google Apps for Government, which is the version used by GSA. Our usage of the Google Apps solution is governed by contractual agreement with Google and our prime contractor, Unisys. The solution is compliant with all federal regulations and requirements, including those regarding privacy and data protection."
     Even so, while the GSA's Google Apps application is exempted, it was not immediately known whether those same conditions applied to other federal agencies utilizing Google services through agreements with YouTube, Gmail and Android application providers, or to agencies using Google's services as a certified identity provider to the federal government. Google users often have to log in with a username, which, in many workplaces, might be linked to the agency or company as much as the individual user.
     Google's new policies are raising questions in the blogosphere about how Google will use the tracking information it collects on individuals, whether it would assemble detailed dossiers on individuals, how long it would be stored, who might have access to it, and whether it would ever be disclosed publicly or to third parties. The answers might have impact on federal workers, especially those in sensitive positions or those involved in contracting.
     For example, there might be reason for concern if Google assembles a tracking profile based on online activity by a federal contracting officer who is involved in a vendor selection in which Google is competing. There may be ethical and privacy concerns about which Google company members are allowed to view the profile, or how that profile might be used or distributed.
     In another hypothetical scenario, there may be privacy concerns related to Google's collection of phone numbers and location data for a federal employee in a sensitive national security or law enforcement position who uses an Android mobile device. It was not clear from the announcements how that information would be stored, and who might have access to it.
     In theory, those concerns might apply whether the federal contracting officer used Google at work or at home. Broadly speaking, Google's policy changes also are triggering privacy concerns for the public, including federal executives and employees, who use Google's search, Gmail, YouTube in their private lives.
     Google announced it would begin consolidating and tracking personal user data collected through search, Gmail, YouTube, Google+ and other products into a single user data profile for the purpose of better serving users. That allows Google to better target advertising to individual tastes across platforms; for example, users who view a Lady Gaga video on YouTube may see ads for upcoming concert tickets when they open their Gmail email account.
     Google executives described the changes as a streamlining and simplification of its services. "Regulators globally have been calling for shorter, simpler privacy policies—and having one policy covering many different products is now fairly standard across the Web," Alma Whitten, Google's director of privacy, product and engineering, wrote in a blog post about the new policy.
     The changes go into effect March 1. Users cannot opt out of the new policies.      Reaction to the policy changes on the Web was leaning negative. Although a few bloggers and observers were mildly supportive, many others questioned Google's motives and foresaw the possibility of broad profiling and significant privacy risks.
     "Google's Broken Promise—The End of 'Don't Be Evil,'" was the headline at Gizmodo. "This is an entirely new level of sharing. And given all of the negative feedback that it had with Google+ privacy issues, it's especially troubling that it would take actions that further erode users' privacy," Gizmodo said.
     Those risks may be heightened for federal employees in general, many of whom work in sensitive positions, such as federal law enforcement or national security.
     Federal contracting workers also may be facing greater privacy risks, as a result of the strict ethics rules and conflict-of-interest prohibitions related to federal contracting. In every agency, there are dozens if not thousands of employees who are covered by the contracting ethics rules.
In Google's role as a federal contractor, its new privacy policies may create new difficulties, Chester said.
     "Google's contracts with the federal government should be reviewed to ensure that it cannot gather and analyze additional data. These contracts may require revision to limit the kinds of data practices Google just announced, which will enable it to collect and harvest complete profiles of its users," Chester said.
     Google's privacy changes are coming at a time when competition appears to be intensifying for social media advertising dollars. Facebook recently changed its format to Timeline, with more than 60 new applications being introduced in its Timeline Open Graph. Google also announced recently it was adding social results to its search engine, which also was greeted with mixed reactions.
Google is on the defensive on its new privacy policy because of its track record on the subject, according to Juliana Gruenwald in an article in the National Journal.
     "The company has come under increased attention after a privacy settlement last year with the Federal Trade Commission on privacy concerns over the rollout of Google's now-defunct social-networking service Buzz," Gruenwald wrote. "The commission said that Google engaged in deceptive practices when it automatically signed Gmail users up for Buzz without users' consent."

This is why I switched to DuckDuckGo several months ago. They have a strict "no tracking" policy. My understanding is they use the Bing engine in the backend, but it seems to work fine. I very rarely need to go to Google. I have Gmail and Google+ accounts that I don't use and will avoid even more now. I'm glad I never started using GoogleDocs.

It isn't often that a president makes a decision that has no redeeming virtues and - beyond the symbolism - won't even advance the goals of the groups that demanded it. All it tells us is that Obama is so obsessed with his reelection that, through some sort of political calculus, he believes that placating his environmental supporters will improve his chances.
     Aside from the political and public relations victory, environmentalists won't get much. Stopping the pipeline won't halt the development of tar sands, to which the Canadian government is committed; therefore, there will be little effect on global-warming emissions. Indeed, Obama's decision might add to them. If Canada builds a pipeline from Alberta to the Pacific for export to Asia, moving all that oil across the ocean by tanker will create extra emissions. There will also be the risk of added spills.
     Now consider how Obama's decision hurts the United States. For starters, it insults and antagonizes a strong ally; getting future Canadian cooperation on other issues will be harder. Next, it threatens a large source of relatively secure oil that, combined with new discoveries in the United States, could reduce (though not eliminate) our dependence on insecure foreign oil.
     Finally, Obama's decision forgoes all the project's jobs. There's some dispute over the magnitude. Project sponsor TransCanada claims 20,000, split between construction (13,000) and manufacturing (7,000) of everything from pumps to control equipment. Apparently, this refers to "job years," meaning one job for one year. If so, the actual number of jobs would be about half that spread over two years.   Whatever the figure, it's in the thousands and thus important in a country hungering for work. And Keystone XL is precisely the sort of infrastructure project that Obama claims to favor.
     The big winners are the Chinese. They must be celebrating their good fortune and wondering how the crazy Americans could repudiate such a huge supply of nearby energy. There's no guarantee that tar-sands oil will go to China; pipelines to the Pacific would have to be built. But it creates the possibility when the oil's natural market is the United States.
     There are three things to remember about Keystone and U.S. energy policy.
     First, we're going to use lots of oil for a long time. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that U.S. oil consumption will increase 4 percent between 2009 and 2035. The increase occurs despite highly optimistic assumptions about vehicle fuel efficiency and bio-fuels. But a larger population (390 million in 2035 versus 308 million in 2009) and more driving per vehicle offset savings.
     The more oil we produce domestically and import from neighbors, the more we're insulated from dramatic interruptions of global supplies. After the United States, Canada is the most dependable source of oil - or was, until Obama's decision.
     Second, barring major technological breakthroughs, emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, will rise for similar reasons. The EIA projects that America's CO2 emissions will increase by 16 percent from 2009 to 2035. (The EIA is updating its projections, but the main trends aren't likely to change dramatically.) Stopping Canadian tar-sands development, were that possible, wouldn't affect these emissions.
     Finally, even if - as Keystone critics argue - some Canadian oil were refined in the United States and then exported, this would be a good thing. The exports would probably go mostly to Latin America. They would keep well-paid industrial jobs (yes, refining) in the United States and reduce our trade deficit in oil, which exceeded $300 billion in 2011.
     By law, Obama's decision was supposed to reflect "the national interest." His standard was his political interest. The State Department had spent three years evaluating Keystone and appeared ready to approve the project by year-end 2011. Then the administration, citing opposition to the pipeline's route in Nebraska, reversed course and postponed a decision to 2013 - after the election.
     Now, reacting to a congressional deadline to decide, Obama rejected the proposal. But he also suggested that a new application with a modified Nebraska route - already being negotiated - might be approved, after the election. So the sop tossed to the environmentalists could be temporary. The cynicism is breathtaking.

We're constantly clubbed on the head with the claim that the Muslim world condemns 9/11, abhors 9/11, etc.

Yet every day Shirts like this a mass produced, marketed, and sold by street venders thru out the middle east and it's simply OK.

Now a few of our guys, after months of sleeping on the cold ground, eating MREs, not having a good hot shower, and away from their love ones, get caught piss'n on a couple of dead rag head Al Qada types and they are condemned by the world.

I may not always see eye-to-eye with the Roman Catholic Church, but I'm with them all the way on this one. While many religious denominations forbid their followers from drinking alcohol and others preach against it, it's nice to see at least one take a more rational approach. Not only does Catholic Online tell everyone: "Have a beer. Really, go ahead and have one." They even go so far as to encourage you to spread the word to your fellow man (and woman): "Tell everyone we said it's okay to pop a cold one." Talk about a great beginning.

The article published today on the catholic website is entitled 10 healthy reasons to have a beer! and also carries this subtitle: "Beer outperforms wine as a healthy beverage in several categories." LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Beer is an ancient beverage, in fact it has been around since prehistoric times -- prior to the invention of writing and the foundation of the earliest civilizations. Beer is also the third most widely consumed beverage on the planet just behind water and tea.
In more recent times, beer has enjoyed a mixed reputation. Thanks to modern advertising campaigns, beer is often associated with family, friends, sporting events, and good times in general. However, beer is also associated with intoxication, alcoholism, weight gain, and overindulgence.
Several years ago, it became understood that wine had a surprising number of health benefits. Since then, beer drinkers have had to endure a litany of praises about how great wine was for health as opposed to beer. But now, it turns out that the wine drinkers needn't be so smug when comparing their beverage to beer.
Researchers from around the world have spent years studying one of our favorite beverages in detail, and there's some good news. 1. Strong bones
Apparently, beer contains relatively high levels of silicon. A 2009 study performed at Tufts University revealed that older men and women who consumed one to two drinks daily had greater bone density with the greatest found in those people who preferred beer or wine. But there was one caveat, people who had more than two drinks per day were at a greater risk of fractures.
2. A strong heart
You have to have a strong heart to drink certain kinds of beer but the 2011 analysis of 16 previous studies including more than 200,000 people, found that 31 percent reduction in the risk of heart disease in people who drank a pint of beer daily. But those who drank more than a pint saw their risk increase.
3. Kidney stone prevention
Kidney stones are one of the more painful afflictions that a man can suffer but the good news is each daily bottle of beer that men drank lowered their risk of developing kidney stones by 40 percent. Exactly how this works is still unknown, but researchers suspect that beer's high water content keeps the kidneys flushed and prevents calcium from building up and forming stones.
4. Dementia prevention
A 2005 study which tracked 11,000 older women showed that moderate drinking reduced their risk of mental decline by as much as 20 percent. Additionally, women who drank a beer a day were about 18 months younger, according to tests which rated their mental ability.
5. Reduced cancer risk
A study done in Portugal showed that steak marinated in beer eliminated 70 percent of the carcinogens that are produced when the meat is fried in a pan. It's believed that the sugars and beer prevent the carcinogens from forming.
Both beer and wine are also known to contain high levels of antioxidants.
6. Taking your vitamins
A nutritional study performed in the Netherlands showed that beer drinkers had 30 percent higher levels of vitamin B6 in their blood than nondrinkers. As a bonus, the beer drinkers had twice as much vitamin B6 as wine drinkers. Take that, vino!
Beer is also known to contain vitamin B12 and folic acid.
7. Stroke prevention
The Harvard school of public health found that moderate amounts of alcohol consumption, which includes beer, helps to prevent blood clots. Blood clots cause strokes which can be debilitating and even fatal.
8. Diabetes prevention
Another Harvard study concluded in 2011 showed that 38,000 middle-aged men who raised their alcohol intake to two beers per day reduced their risk of developing type II diabetes by 25 percent. Alas, the benefits drop off if a third beer is consumed.
9. Blood pressure
One final Harvard study of 70,000 women ages 25 to 40 revealed that moderate beer drinkers are less likely to have high blood pressure. When those women were compared to women who drink wine or other alcoholic beverages, beer still did a better job of reducing the risk than the other beverages. Beer wins again!
10. Long life
A comprehensive 2005 review done by the USDA which examined the results of 50 different studies revealed that moderate drinkers live longer than heavy drinkers and nondrinkers. The USDA estimates that moderate drinking prevents 26,000 deaths a year due to lower rates of illness, particularly heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Ultimately, there is a wealth of evidence that suggests why consumption of alcohol, and in this case beer, has a number of beneficial health effects. So the next time you decide to have a beer, you can enjoy it without the guilt. But remember, all things in moderation. The benefits listed above are only good for the first two.

Want to know who your neighbors are? Go to this site & put in your address & it comes up with a satellite photo and the names and phone # of your neighbors. Neat, but kinda creepy how much info is out there. T.
