† humor - To Whom Does the Land of Israel Belong? †

From: rapa Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2014 Subject: To Whom Does The Land of Israel Belong?
TO WHOM DOES THE LAND OF ISRAEL BELONG?
An Israeli with a good Sense of Humor set the record straight.  An ingenious example of speech & politics occurred recently in the U.N. Assembly.

The Israeli representative began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses: When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, "What a good opportunity to have a bath!"'

Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water.  When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished.  A Palestinian had stolen them!

The Palestinian representative at the UN jumped up and shouted furiously, "What are you talking about?  The Palestinians weren't there then."

The Israeli representative smiled and said, "And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech."

† Communist goals for American schools read into Congressional Record by Rep. Herlong, 1963 †

From: American Minute Sent: Monday, August 11, 2014 Subject: Communist goals for American schools read into Congressional Record by Rep. Herlong, 1963
American Minute with Bill Federer

Communist goals for American schools read into Congressional Record by Rep. Herlong, 1963

Democrat Congressman Albert S. Herlong, Jr., of Florida, read into the U.S Congressional Record, January 10, 1963, a list of Communist goals for America, (Vol 109, 88th Congress, 1st Session, Appendix, pp. A34-A35).

Communist goals included:

"Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of 'separation of church and state'...

Discredit American culture... Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and divorce..."

Democrat Rep. Herlong continued listing Communist goals:

"Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as 'normal, natural, healthy'...

Infiltrate churches and replace revealed religion with 'social' religion...

Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a 'religious crutch'...

Control schools.

Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda.

Soften curriculum.

Get control of teachers' associations. Put party line in textbooks...

Control student newspapers..."

AUGUST 11, 1984, by an 88-11 Senate vote and a 337-77 House vote, Congress passed the Equal Access Act, stating:

"It shall be unlawful for any public secondary school which receives Federal financial assistance and which has a limited open forum,

to deny equal access or a fair opportunity to, or discriminate against, any students who wish to conduct a meeting within that limited open forum on the basis of the religious, political, philosophical, or other content of the speech at such meeting."

Regarding this, President Reagan commented August 23, 1984 at Reunion Arena, Dallas, Texas:

"We even had to pass a special law in the Congress just a few weeks ago to allow student prayer groups the same access to school rooms after classes that a Young Marxist Society...would already enjoy."

The Supreme Court upheld the Equal Access Act by a vote of 8-1 in Westside Community Schools v. Mergens, June 4, 1990:

"If a State refused to let religious groups use facilities open to others, then it would demonstrate not neutrality but hostility toward religion.

The Establishment Clause does not license government to treat religion and those who teach or practice it...as subversive of American ideals."

The Ten Commandments and their influence on American Law

Ronald Reagan stated in a radio address, February 25, 1984:

"Former Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart noted if religious exercises are held to be impermissible activity in schools, religion is placed at an artificial and state-created disadvantage.

Permission for such exercises for those who want them is necessary if the schools are truly to be neutral in the matter of religion.

And a refusal to permit them is seen not as the realization of state neutrality, but rather as the establishment of a religion of secularism."

Get the book, PRAYERS AND PRESIDENTS-Inspiring Faith from Leaders of the Past

U.S. District Court, Crockett v. Sorenson, W.D. Va,. 1983:

"The First Amendment was never intended to insulate our public institutions from any mention of God, the Bible or religion.

When such insulation occurs, another religion, such as secular humanism, is effectively established."

This reaffirmed what George Washington wrote to the United Baptist Churches of Virginia, May 10, 1789:

"If I could have entertained the slightest apprehension that the Constitution framed by the Convention, where I had the honor to preside, might possibly endanger the religious rights of any ecclesiastical Society, certainly I would never have placed my signature to it."

Ronald Reagan, on the National Day of Prayer, May 6, 1982, commented:

"Well-meaning Americans in the name of freedom have taken freedom away. For the sake of religious tolerance, they've forbidden religious practice."

Ronald Reagan told the Annual Convention of the National Religious Broadcasters, January 30, 1884:

"I was pleased last year to proclaim 1983 the Year of the Bible.

But, you know, a group called the ACLU severely criticized me for doing that. Well, I wear their indictment like a badge of honor."

In the Supreme Court case of Town of Greece, NY, v. Galloway et al, Justice Kennedy wrote in the decision, May 5, 2014:

"Respondents maintain that prayer must be nonsectarian...and they fault the town for permitting guest chaplains to deliver prayers that 'use overtly Christian terms' or 'invoke specifics of Christian theology'...

An insistence on nonsectarian or ecumenical prayer as a single, fixed standard is not consistent with the tradition of legislative prayer...

The Congress that drafted the First Amendment would have been accustomed to invocations containing explicitly religious themes of the sort respondents find objectionable.

One of the Senate's first chaplains, the Rev. William White, gave prayers in a series that included the Lord's Prayer, the Collect for Ash Wednesday, prayers for peace and grace, a general thanksgiving, St. Chrysostom's Prayer, and a prayer seeking 'the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, &c'..."

Justice Kennedy continued:

"The decidedly Christian nature of these prayers must not be dismissed as the relic of a time when our Nation was less pluralistic than it is today.

Congress continues to permit its appointed and visiting chaplains to express themselves in a religious idiom...

To hold that invocations must be nonsectarian would force the legislatures...and the courts...to act as...censors of religious speech...

Government may not mandate a civic religion that stifles any but the most generic reference to the sacred any more than it may prescribe a religious orthodoxy..."

Justice Kennedy added:

"Respondents argue, in effect, that legislative prayer may be addressed only to a generic God.

The law and the Court could not draw this line for each specific prayer or seek to require ministers to set aside their nuanced and deeply personal beliefs for vague and artificial ones.

There is doubt, in any event, that consensus might be reached as to what qualifies as generic or nonsectarian..."

Justice Kennedy continued:

"While these prayers vary in their degree of religiosity, they often seek peace for the Nation, wisdom for its lawmakers, and justice for its people, values that count as universal and that are embodied not only in religious traditions, but in our founding documents and laws.

The first prayer delivered to the Continental Congress by the Rev. Jacob Duché on Sept. 7, 1774, provides an example:

'Be Thou present O God of Wisdom and direct the counsel of this Honorable Assembly; enable them to settle all things on the best and surest foundations; that the scene of blood may be speedily closed; that Order, Harmony, and Peace be effectually restored, and the Truth and Justice, Religion and Piety, prevail and flourish among the people.

Preserve the health of their bodies, and the vigor of their minds, shower down on them, and the millions they here represent, such temporal Blessings as Thou seest expedient for them in this world, and crown them with everlasting Glory in the world to come. All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Saviour, Amen'...

Justice Kennedy concluded:

"From the earliest days of the Nation, these invocations have been addressed to assemblies comprising many different creeds...

Our tradition assumes that adult citizens, firm in their own beliefs, can tolerate and perhaps appreciate a ceremonial prayer delivered by a person of a different faith."

"The latest from the miserable excuse for a 'Commander-in-Chief', the neutered Secretary of Defense, and the careerist bobbleheads in the senior management of the Army."
Sending pink slips to a war zone
By Jonathan Hendershott,   July 9, 2014 | Modal Trigger

US soldiers prepare to leave after handing over their military base to the Afghan National Army in Baghlan, Afghanistan. Photo: EPA
In a stunning display of callousness, the Defense Department has announced that thousands of soldiers - many serving as commanding officers in Afghanistan - will be notified in the coming weeks that their service to the country is no longer needed.
Last week, more than 1,100 Army captains - the men and women who know best how to fight this enemy because they have experienced multiple deployments - were told they'll be retired from the Army.
The overall news is not unexpected.  The Army has ended its major operations in Iraq and is winding down in Afghanistan.  Budget cuts are projected to shrink the Army from its current 520,000 troops to 440,000, the smallest size since before World War II.
What is astonishing is that the Defense Department thought it would be appropriate to notify deployed soldiers - men and women risking their lives daily in combat zones - that they'll be laid off after their current deployment.
As one Army wife posted on MilitaryFamily.org,  "On some level I knew the drawdowns were inevitable, but I guess I never expected to be simultaneously worried about a deployment to Afghanistan and a pink slip because my husband's service is no longer needed."
Yet the issues go far beyond thanklessness.  The nation should worry about the increased national-security risk of separating such a large pool of combat-experienced leaders.  The separated soldiers are those who carry the deepest knowledge base of counterinsurgency operations.
A senior Defense Department official warned: :If the force is smaller, there's less margin for error.  Let's face it - things are pretty uncertain out there."
Commenting on the extraordinarily large number of captains being retired, Army Vice Chief of Staff Gen. John Campbell said: "In other times, they'd probably continue to stay in the Army.  But these are not normal times."
Indeed not.  While mass layoffs in the private sector generate front-page headlines, the media have largely ignored the reduction of our military.  But who can blame them?
The war-weary public doesn't want to hear that the cuts put the country at risk.
After more than a decade of fighting, even the most faithful - who used to rally behind the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan by sending CARE packages filled with cookies, candies and reminders of home - have moved on with their lives, with few thoughts of the soldiers still serving there.
And for far too many, a soldier is an uncomfortable reminder of what we have failed to do in the Middle East.
The most famous soldier in the country at the moment is not Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter, who was recently awarded the Medal of Honor for absorbing the brunt of a grenade blast in order to save a fellow Marine.
Instead, the media has focused on Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, a soldier who appears to have deserted his unit.
Consumed with the Bergdahl trade, most have ignored the death of Capt. Jason Jones, a heroic Special Forces commander killed by the Taliban in a firefight in Afghanistan less than a week after the Bergdahl release.
Capt. Jones was mourned by his family and his friends.  He will never be forgotten by the soldiers who served with him and the cadets he led in his years at West Point.
The US Military Academy has paid a high price for these post-9/11 wars.
According to the Naval History and Heritage Command, the West Point cadet-to-death ratio in Iraq and Afghanistan is 11 times higher than the ratio experienced for the Academy in World War II, four times greater than during the Korean War and more than three times greater than in the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars.
None of our soldiers has ever asked for our gratitude - they never really expected it.  But they did expect to be able to finish the job they trained to do.
Sending pink slips to commanders still serving in a combat zone is wrong.  They deserve so much better than this.
Former US Army Capt. Jonathan Hendershott (West Point, 2007) served in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division and as a company commander in Ft. Hood, Texas.  He lives in New York City.

Senator Reid - No Billionaire Democrats!

From: gregc Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2014 Subject: Stop Reid & his MEGA donors.

Harry Reid doesn't think there are any billionaire Democrats.

Did he forget about George Soros, Pat Stryker, Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, and Tom Steyer?

Not only have each of them given hundreds of millions to Democrats, but they've also gotten even filthier rich off the Leftist policies pushed into law by their Crony's Harry Reid and Obama.

    -   George Soros - hired an Obama Energy Departed official to run his green-energy investment fund;
    -   Elon Musk - benefited from the Reid/Obama passed Stimulus and green subsidies -- not to mention cashing in on extensive federal contracts in a pay to play scheme;
    -   Pat Stryker - a mega Democrat donor with "mega" return on investment for his solar panel company through green-energy subsidies;
    -   Warren Buffet - raked in profits from the Left's government bailouts; AND
    -   Tom Steyer - made opposition to the Keystone Pipeline a profitable industry.
You see, Friend, Democrats like Harry Reid and Obama like to pretend the care about you, but they are busy making back room deals in Washington to benefit their crony capitalist pals.

o'wussifiy - San Francisco to Ban “Culturally-Insensitive” Clothing

article source: http://unfilteredpatriot.com/wussification-of-america-san-fran-giants-to-ban-culturally-insensitive-clothing/
From: UnfilteredPatriot  Sent: Monday, July 14, 2014 Subject: San Francisco to Ban "Culturally-Insensitive" Clothing
Wussification of America: San Fran Giants to Ban "Culturally-Insensitive" Clothing
Wasn't there once a time in this country when you could wear what you wanted, say what you wanted, and trust that the worst you might get for your efforts was a punch in the face? No one's advocating for violence or lawlessness, but this continued wussification of the country that seems to please liberals to no end has a weakening effect on our right to free speech.

While it's true that the First Amendment applies only to the government itself and does not apply to private businesses, even private policies can push the direction of the country to the left and have an impact on what people consider acceptable. The government already uses concepts like "hate speech" to get around the First Amendment, and several countries in Europe throw people in jail for speech they consider racist or intolerant.

What's this all about?

According to KCBS in San Francisco, the Giants baseball organization is in the closing stages of striking a policy against "culturally-insensitive" attire at the team's AT&T Park. "We want to make sure that our fans are respectful of each other and the different backgrounds that everyone comes from," Giants' Sr. Vice President Staci Slaughter told the news station Wednesday. This would make the Giants the first MLB team in the country to adopt such a policy.

Which "sensitive" group is at the heart of the problem? Native Americans, naturally. The incident that gave birth to the policy apparently took place on a Native American Heritage Night, which saw a couple of Native Americans ask a white fan to remove the headdress he was wearing. It's not clear from the report how the incident transpired or whether the fan removed the headdress on complaint, but this doesn't seem like the sort of thing that should be the park's business. We're not talking about some skinhead wearing a swastika shirt on Jewish Appreciation Night.

What's next for AT&T Park? Will we be banning jeers from the stands? Perhaps fans should be more respectful of the opposing team, treating them with the honor and polite applause that Major League millionaires so rightfully deserve. And what's next for Native Americans, who seem bound and intent to wash away any remnants of their culture that persist beyond the reservations? Wise observers can already see that the writing is on the wall for the Washington Redskins, who earlier this year lost their right to the trademarks – a cowardly move on the part of the government in an attempt to circumvent free speech.

The substance of Staci Slaughter's defense can't be argued. We are a country of diverse backgrounds, and it would benefit the civility of all involved if each could show a little more respect to the other. Simply put, though, banning certain forms of attire isn't the way forward. I'm much more comfortable when racists and bigots are allowed to fully express themselves. Wouldn't that be better than hiding everyone in a brown uniform, letting their hatred only shine through in subtler, more dangerous ways?

Ah well, welcome to America: 2014, the Kindergarten Years.

The federal government has accumulated more new debt -- $3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29) — during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury." -- By Terence P. 3 years ago: The Debt ~ $125T+! Then Obama:  Up $22T+ in only 3 years! $22T to $26T+ by 2015!  Since November 2011 to January 2013 he has added $2 Trillion to the deficit!  States' Unfunded: $3.2T+! • (Dec10) From Jan'09 the deficit: $10.2T→$14.6T up $4.3T/42%! -- Federal unfunded liabilities total $84 trillion .. equal to 5.7 percent of the present value of all future GDP, which translates into about 31 percent of the long run federal revenue estimate,” the report states.  “Thus federal revenues would have to rise immediately and permanently to 24.1 percent of GDP to cover the fiscal imbalance.” (source: http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/16/report-federal-unfunded-liabilities-total-84-trillion/)

Many Americans actually pay $1 out of ever $2 earned to some form of tax while ~50% of people pay no taxes!  Do you pay your bills?  The Fed takes $3 in and spends $5.  Debt per citizen: $51,985 - Debt per taxpayer: $142,513! (13Dec12)

What were you doing in the last hour while the U.S. Gov't spent $188 Million Dollars of our money!  (Every Hour, Every Day!) (Apr11)   In 8 years, President Bush added $5 trillion to the national debt; President Obama, according to a revised Dec11 GAO report, added $4T+ to the U.S. deficit in 2011 alone!  The GAO estimates the deficit, including o'scamcare & mandates, may grow from $15T+ to over $26T+!  UPDATE: A little-noticed event occurred at approximately midnight on Monday, October 31, 2011.  The National Debt exceeded the GDP!  Imagine what these numbers are going to be now that Obama is reelected! A trillion seconds pass in 31,688 years.  At $1/sec it would take 41,194 years just to pay off o'tax'n spend's new Feb12-Feb13 added debt - 538,696 years to pay only the national debt or 4,404,632 years to settle the debt+unfunded liabilities!

"Over the last four years our national debt has risen nearly $6 trillion, and just last week the debt topped an astounding $16 trillion.  To put that in perspective, $16 trillion is enough money to fund the US military, along with the military of every NATO country combined… for the next sixteen years!  Government spending is projected to hit $3.8 trillion this year alone.  Even after every tax dollar paid by Americans has been counted, the government will still overspend by another $1.13 trillion.  Every single second of the day our government spends over $12,000.  So in the time it takes you to read this article, roughly five minutes, our government has spent $3.6 million.  It take four seconds for the government to spend what the average American earns in an entire year."  (source: by Tim Phillips 17Sep12 at TownHall.com)
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself.  They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good." -- George Washington

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11
It has been suggested that o'who?, the clown, and 'those who surround him' are not the bumbling fools they appear to be.  Nor are they one of the 'Three Stooges' but rather are shrewd implementation/drivers and fellow-travelers of policies designed to disarm the citizenry & collapse the American economy.  Why?  o'nocchio's grandiose scheme to "fundamentally transform America" is more than simple campaign rhetoric as can be seen by his use of "enabling acts" to circumvent the Constitution of the United States.  As Ollie used to say, "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into."

"As a nation we have been asleep for years.  Lulled by affluence and self-indulgent apathy, our collective awareness has grown dim.  This has created an opening for our enemies, one that may ultimately prove fatal.  This is the truth and what we do, or don't do, will determine the consequences, for better or worse.  It is time to decide." -- truthandcons.blogspot.com
