Obama Plots to Outlaw Private Insurance

From: Conservative News Alerts  Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2009 Subject: Obama Plots to Outlaw Private Insurance

Did President Obama lie when he said we could keep our insurance plans and our doctors? See what our friends at GrassTopsUSA say about the matter.

"[T]he Energy and Commerce Committee will try again tomorrow to start marking up the health care bill. They're going up to the White House today to be lobbied by Obama, which means Rahm Emanuel is going to be there with a loaded gun. ... This is not a time to start thinking victory. This is a time to keep mounting up even more heat."

Those are the words of radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, who also  issued a stern warning on Tuesday that Obama-Care "is not dead."  As Rush said, we are, indeed, living in "a very dangerous time."

"They're going to be working with the White House to make another run at health care. It is not dead. We need to be on our toes. They're going to regroup. They are going to pretend to be addressing the public's concerns. They'll up the lies, they will up the rhetoric."

And while we're on the subject of "lies" what's the most outrageous whopper a president ever told the American people?

Quite possibly, it is Barack Obama's recent statement:

"If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what."

Obama knows better. If Obama-Care passes, you can kiss your private health insurance goodbye... maybe to your doctor, too... and you can certainly say adios to the best health care system the world has ever known.

Is Obama trying to tear down America? Was he serious when he denounced the United States of America all over the world? Is health care only the beginning? Does he intend to wreck it all?

Does he want "to start from scratch," to create a "single-payer" health insurance system – that is, a government-run health care system... a huge bureaucracy that will decide which doctor you can see and whether you get that hip replacement or liver transplant.

George Will, writing in the Washington Post, exposed this monumental lie.

"Why does the president, who says that were America 'starting from scratch' he would favor a 'single-payer' – government-run – system, insist that health-care reform include a government insurance plan that competes with private insurers? The simplest answer is that such a plan will lead to a single-payer system."

"Conservatives say that a government program will have the intended consequence of crowding private insurers out of the market, encouraging employers to stop providing coverage and luring employees from private insurance to the cheaper government option.

"The Lewin Group estimates that 70 percent of the 172 million persons privately covered might be drawn, or pushed, to the government plan…. The president characteristically denies that he is doing what he is doing - putting the nation on a path to an outcome he considers desirable - just as he denies any intention of running General Motors."

Don't let Obama slick-talk Congress and millions of Americans into giving up their freedom.

A government-run system will bankrupt the nation and nurture untold suffering and death.

And Then... When They Thought You Weren't Looking... They Tried To Pass A Single-Payer System.
Did you hear what was in the health care bill that Congressman John Dingell proposed last Tuesday... deceptively titled; America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (H.R. 3200)?

Did you hear about the provisions on page 16 that would effectively eradicated your private health insurance and force everyone into the a government-run single-payer plan?

Entitled "Protecting The Choice to Keep Current Coverage," it reads:

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law."

This paragraph simply means that the day government insurance becomes available, Americans can no longer enroll in a private plan.

Sure, if you already have private insurance, you can keep it... as long as the company that employees you doesn't fold... or cancels its the health insurance it offers in favor of the government plan... or as long as your private plan doesn't change... or as long as you don't change jobs.

That's just about everybody.  But wait a minute... we're not done yet.

Leaving no stone unturned, the Dingell legislation has a special surprise for the literal handful of people that may miraculously escape the above provisions.

A few paragraphs later, the Dingell bill states:

"The Commissioner shall establish a grace period whereby, for plan years beginning after the end of the 5-year period beginning with Y1, an employment-based health plan in operation as of the day before the first day of Y1 must meet the same requirements as apply to a qualified health benefits plan under section 101, including the essential benefit package requirement under section 121."

In plain English... if you somehow manage to keep your private plan – if any private plans even exist in five years – the government is going to start calling the shots... your private plan will essentially be "private" in name only.

In short, everyone will eventually be forced to accept Obama-Care.

Remember when Obama said; "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what."

If Obama-Care passes, it ain't gonna happen.

Oh Canada...

If you want to get an idea of how Obama-Care will affect you, look no further than Canada.

Oh, the Canadian system is great – as long as you don't get sick. The sicker you get, the worse you're treated.

And if your illness is life-threatening and requires immediate attention, you might as well start pricing cemetery lots.

Did you hear the Canadian woman on Mike Huckabee's show, talking about her excruciatingly painful back condition? She needed surgery, and she couldn't even get an appointment with a surgeon. Estimated waiting period – 3 years.

One doctor told her that she was too young to qualify for the operation – that she hadn't suffered enough.

When it got to the point where she was using a walker and wearing diapers, she scraped up enough money to travel to wicked, capitalistic America and got her back fixed skillfully and quickly.

An American doctor who told his patients they "hadn't suffered enough" would end up working the McDonalds drive-thru window.

And you've probably seen the television ad featuring the Canadian woman who had a malignant brain tumor and was told she couldn't be treated for six months. In six months she would have been dead. She came to the United States and survived. Obama-Care would put an end to all that.

By the way, after four decades, is the Canadian system chugging along like The Little Engine That Could?

Claude Castonguay – the former health minister and chief champion of public health insurance in Canada – recently chaired a committee that reviewed the system in Quebec.

Guess what! He reported that the system is in "crisis" – the same word Obama has used to characterize our health care system.

Here's what Castonguay's committee concluded. (And we're not making this up):

"We thought we could resolve the system's problems by rationing services or injecting massive amounts of money into it.... We are proposing to give a greater role to the private sector so that people can exercise choice."

In other words, they've been down that same dark road Obama wants us to travel, and now they're on their way back.

Maybe Obama could learn something from Castonguay's report?

Coverage For Illegal Aliens Too...?

Did you know that Congressman Dean Heller proposed an amendment that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving benefits under Obama-Care?

But liberals shot down the amendment.

     So what does this mean?

It means Senator Max Baucus, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, was either naïve or lying when he said:

"We're not going to cover undocumented aliens, undocumented workers. That's too politically explosive."

     You better believe it's explosive.

A recent Rasmussen poll found that a whopping 80 percent of Americans oppose covering illegal aliens.

And here's the kicker: When Obama and his radicals talk about the 46 million uninsured, the U.S. Census Bureau tells us that 15 percent to 22 percent of those 46 million are illegal aliens.

So, is that part of the plot... the Big-Lie... just say you won't include illegal aliens in the plan... and then, do it anyway!

If you thought illegal immigration was bad in years past, just wait for Obama-Care.

One Final Note On Deception...

Last month, five governors actually used the word "rationing" in discussing proposed health care legislation – that is, allowing one person to have life-saving surgery and telling another to go home and die.

Obama was quick to clap his hand over their mouths. Don't use that term. We don't want the American people to think about having to cut back on procedures now available to them.

Then The New York Times – which apparently hadn't gotten the word from the White House – published a lengthy article called "Why We Must Have Rationed Health Care."

It was written by Peter Singer, a distinguished (and yes, we use the term loosely) professor of Bioethics at Princeton University.

Singer is infamous for advancing the concept of "animal liberation" and even advocated the position that unnatural acts between humans and animals could be condoned as long as they do not "involve cruelty" and are "mutually satisfying."

Singer also advocates the right of parents to kill their recently born children if they're disappointed in what the stork brought.

To quote Singer; "killing a newborn baby is never equivalent to killing a person, that is, a being who wants to go on living."

Singer also wrote: "The notion that human life is sacred just because it is human life is medieval."

If Obama-Care passes, look for Singers to be swaggering around Washington... figuring out who should be killed and who should be spared.

Take Singer's attitude into the operating room and a lot of folks are going to die. But Singer is useful because he shows us the kind of thinking that will drive Obama-Care:

"As a first take, we might say that the good achieved by health care is the number of lives saved. But that is too crude. The death of a teenager is a greater tragedy than the death of an 85-year-old, and this should be reflected in our priorities. We can accommodate that difference by calculating the number of life-years saved, rather than simply the number of lives saved."

     Translation: Goodbye Grandpa.

What about a system that tries to save both of them – like the health care we have in America today?

     Here's what Singer says:

"[P]reserving our belief that everyone has an equal right to life is, however, a double-edged sword. If life with quadriplegia is as good as life without it, there is no health benefit to be gained by curing it."

Are we going to allow such thinking to guide the practice of medicine in the greatest country in the world?

Obama-Care is not dead. Let's kill it.

Tell them the proposed health care legislation which is coming out of Congress is deceitful and treacherous, a recipe for rationing and mediocre medical care. Tell them that the American people want freedom of choice... choice of insurance plans... choice of health providers. Tell them that a government-run system will bankrupt the nation and nurture untold suffering and death. Tell them to kill Obama-Care and drive a stake through its evil heart so that it can never rise from the dead.
