Abortion - late-night votes over the weekend

From: Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel  Sent: Wednesday, August 05, 2009

This is a contentious time in Washington, D.C.  The battle for life within the health care debate has taken center stage on Capitol Hill.
  • Four crucial pro-life amendments to the current legislation FAILED to pass through Congress in late-night votes over the weekend.
  • Not only does health care reform legislation still include an abortion mandate, but it's gone from a back-door approach to the most overt inclusion of an abortion mandate yet ... clearly subsidizing the death of thousands upon thousands of unborn children through government-mandated abortion services. With your support, we will continue fighting vigorously to protect the sanctity of human life and hold back devious attempts to make abortion a mandatory health care service - while continuing all of our legal and legislative work across the country. Thank you.
