While both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refuse to even consider tort reform as a way to lower health care costs for consumers, they are looking elsewhere for ways to save. That includes a provision that would allow insurance companies to place annual limits on the dollar value of medical care, as long as those limits are not "unreasonable." The definition of "unreasonable" will be left up to federal government bureaucrats. This rationing provision was added into Sen. Reid's current version of health care overhaul and would be shouldered by anyone dealing with costly illnesses such as cancer or diabetes. .

For those of us in the pro-family business, it's more than a little ironic that Congress calls it an Omnibus, since it's becoming the biggest vehicle for social change. Check out the major values shift underway in H.R. 3288:
Abortion: For the first time in 13 years, taxpayers will be forced to fork over money for abortions performed in the nation's capital.
Medical Marijuana: On top of D.C. abortions, the bill also authorizes the District to use local funds for a medical marijuana program.
Domestic Partner Benefits: H.R. 3288 opens a new funding stream for "partners" of D.C. employees.
Sex Education: Farewell to abstinence! The Omnibus zeros out "save sex" programs and replaces them with $110 million in condom promotion.
Planned Parenthood and Friends: After the $10 million boost for Title X funding, Planned Parenthood is expected to be the biggest recipient of the Fed's $317.5 million pool.
Exporting Family Planning: Under the current language, the U.S. would open up the spigots ($703.5 million) to overseas groups like the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) that promote abortion.
The budget still needs Senate approval, so contact your leaders and ask them to steer this Omnibus back to respectability!

As we pointed out before, expect to be punished by Senator Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) health care bill if you're married. Payroll taxes would impose an extra 0.5% payroll tax on married couples with more than $250,000 in wages and individuals with more than $200,000 in wages. That's a huge marriage penalty. Two cohabitating people could make $200,000 each before getting taxed while married couples would get taxed at $250,000. Senator Reid's message couldn't be clearer: Penalize taxpayers for saying "I do" and reward a liberal agenda with surplus tax dollars instead.

NOW, here comes the good stuff: "Other problems I have with this bill include:
Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.
Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.
Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).
Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)
Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.
Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age. (AND YOU THOUGHT SARAH PALIN WAS WRONG ABOUT "DEATH PANELS?")
Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.
Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. [DEATH PANELS (SQUADS)]
Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order."

I want to share with you some details about the reality of this health care reform bill.

The abortion issue is the Achilles heel of this terrible legislation.
That's why we need you to tell your Senator to block this pro-abortion bill.
The passage of the pro-life amendment championed by Bart Stupak (D-MI) in the House has thrown the pro-abortion Democrats into disarray. Diana DeGette (D-CO), the co-chair of the pro-choice caucus, has warned Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that pro-abortion Representatives would rather defeat the health care bill than allow the Stupak Amendment to pass.
In other words, pro-abortion Democrats would rather risk the wholesale defeat of health care reform than allow a ban on abortion funding.
This will give a golden opportunity for a coalition of Republicans and pro-life Democrats to defeat the bill on final passage in the House of Representatives.
This is the reason that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are so focused on attempting to include abortion funding in the Senate bill. From their perspective, the Stupak Amendment is a poison pill that must be removed in the Senate for health care reform to have any hope of passing in the House.
However, Ben Nelson (D-NE) has said he is drafting language like the Stupak Amendment on the floor of the Senate and is threatening to block the bill as long as it includes abortion funding.
Tell your Senators to stand with Ben Nelson on his decision to stop this legislation.
