As I'm sure you know by now, President Obama signed the health care reform bill into law earlier this week, a bill full of anti-life provisions that--despite a toothless Executive Order--will greatly expand access to abortions and undoubtedly cause you and me to pay for abortions.
Millions of Americans now feel betrayed by their legislators, whom they have called, e-mailed and visited about this reform plan since last summer. Justifiably. The downward spiral began with the 2006 elections has resulted in a constant barrage of bills in Congress that run counter to the values of faith, family and life.
Protecting the family for future generations: This is the political reality we face--the preborn in our society are in more danger than ever before. The flimsy Executive Order signed by the president does nothing to protect the lives of the preborn because it does not have the weight of law behind it. Sadly, we know that increased funding of abortion leads to an increase in the number of abortions.

Many pregnancy medical centers have received sonogram machines and training through our Option Ultrasound™ program so they can provide abortion-minded women the chance to see their preborn babies through an ultrasound. For many women, the opportunity to see their preborn baby, along with counseling, is what they need to make the choice for life. In fact, since Option Ultrasound was launched in 2004, we estimate that as many as 81,000 babies' lives may have been saved!
Together, we can continue to make a difference for life. Your prayer and financial partnership enables us to continue equipping pregnancy resource centers and helping women choose life.
And be encouraged. Even now, the political pendulum is swinging in favor of life, family and freedom, as we see a deep longing for liberty that has its roots in our Judeo-Christian heritage. Because of this, I have great hope that right now, as in the days of Esther, God is raising up "relief and deliverance." You and I have been called "for such a time as this." Please continue to stand with Focus on the Family and to pray for God's mercy on our nation.
