Life v death - Urgent: Take 30 seconds to sign this!

From: Deal W. Hudson

Have you heard contradictory information regarding abortion in the health care bill that President Obama signed last week?

As I wrote on CatholicAdvocate.com today, there are only two facts Catholics need to know about the health care bill to decide it must be repealed: the bill includes federal funding for abortion, and the Executive Order does nothing to remove that funding.

Despite assurances from Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) and several other Catholic organizations, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) announced that the bill funds elective abortions at community health centers and forces U.S. taxpayers to subsidize health insurance plans that cover abortion.

Last week, reporters found that Rep. Stupak negotiated the Executive Order with White House Counsel, Robert Bauer, who previously lobbied for Planned Parenthood and EMILY?s List, a prominent pro-abortion group.

Between the motivations of the White House and loopholes that allow for federal dollars to fund abortion, the only recourse for Catholics is to work for a repeal of the legislation. What "good" contained in the bill is far outweighed by abortion funding and the lack of conscience protection.

If Catholics support the implementation of this bill or stay silent, they are complicit in supporting federal tax dollars funding abortion in the United States.

The issue of repealing the health care bill will likely extend into the 2010 election, and the fate of innocent life could be determined by a handful of congressional races. Protecting the unborn is a powerful reason for all Catholics to support candidates in favor of repealing this legislation.

Join with Catholic Advocate today in urging Congress to work together to repeal this abortion-funding legislation.
