o'amnesty - Loosens Border Rules for 2012 on Fr.17Jun11

WHITE HOUSE LOOSENS BORDER RULES FOR 2012
President Obama is quietly doling out backdoor amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in the hopes of winning reelection by mobilizing millions of new Hispanic voters.  This past Friday, top officials at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency released a memo saying officials need not enforce immigration laws if illegal immigrants are enrolled in an education center or if their relatives have volunteered for the U.S. military.  The Hispanic vote is crucial in the 2012 election as President Obama hopes to offset his declining poll ratings by giving millions of illegal immigrants the right to vote.
U.S. Law Enforcement Exchange Fire across Border
Drug smugglers opened fire on U.S. law enforcement officers over the weekend near the Anzalduas International Bridge after Mission, Texas police intercepted a 500-lb load of marijuana being smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico Border.  Officers returned fire and no injuries were reported.  At one point a young woman involved with the smuggling drove head-on toward a police vehicle before being arrested.
Spanish TV News Expands as 2012 Election Nears
Industry experts say the growth of Spanish-language television news could affect next year's election by increasing awareness of political issues among U.S. Spanish speakers and by encouraging more Hispanics to vote in the 2012 election.   A Pew study showed a record number of Hispanics voted in a non-presidential year increasing their political power.   Latino turnout could be key in 2012 swing states like Florida, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. However, most studies show that Hispanic voters rank jobs, health care and education above immigration as priorities.
