Manhatten Right to Life logoFor its part, Planned Parenthood's think tank, the Alan Guttmacher Institute fumed that States Enact Record Number of Abortion Restrictions in First Half of 2011.   They summarized by noting:
In the first six months of 2011, states enacted 162 new provisions related to reproductive health and rights.  Fully 49% of these new laws seek to restrict access to abortion services, a sharp increase from 2010, when 26% of new laws restricted abortion.  The 80 abortion restrictions enacted this year are more than double the previous record of 34 abortion restrictions enacted in 2005 -- and more than triple the 23 enacted in 2010.
Guttmacher then went on to claim that Family Planning Programs are being targetted.  "For the first time in recent memory, state legislatures devoted significant attention to issues related to family planning in 2011.  Much of this came in the context of state budget bills," they fulminated.
In short, budget crises or no, Planned Parenthood wants -- demands! -- your tax dollars!
On the other hand, National Right to Life presents an interview with State Legislative Director Mary Spaulding Balch commenting on why pro-lifers were so successful at the State Level in 2011.
Balch explains the undeniable progress in terms of "The country is becoming more pro-life.  And that is reflected in elections; a great many pro-lifers were added last November, which changed the substance and the chemistry in many state legislatures."
"It's not just opinion polls, which are trending our way, and it's not just that young people, in general, are pro-life, which they clearly are."
What you see, Balch explained, "is a shift across the culture, which is reflected in more and more people going to the polls and voting for pro-life candidates."
Balch goes on to explain developments and the train of events moving forward on the state level.

At the same time, we cannot forget that sitting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Barack Hussein Obama is still committed to abortion and hard at work.  We must, at least, equal his commitment and effort.
This same story is true here at Manhattan Right to Life, where we too need your help to tell the truth about abortion and save babies' lives.
