Akin's imprudent statement

Republicans' reaction to Representative Akin's controversial, imprudent and asine statement and their swift response to 'throw him under the bus' reminds me of an old, albeit juvenile, joke:

"Two cannibals walking through the jungle stopped to pass an enemy."

Just substitute cannibals with 'Republicans' and enemy with 'one of their own'.
