The Tacoma police officers sent to Lashonn White's aid had been told she was deaf. They knew she'd called because she'd been attacked in her apartment. But when they arrived at the scene, their first response was to taser and handcuff her.

This is a clear example of police power gone terribly awry. »

Take action now. After being attacked in her own apartment, Lashonn was understandably panicky. When she saw the Tacoma officers arrive, she ran out to meet them rather than continue to wait in her apartment.

As soon as she got close, Officer Koskovich tasered her in her rib and stomach. When she fell, she suffered heavy bleeding from her knuckles, injuries to her cheek, chin, ribs, neck, and arms, and swelling on the right side of her face. Then they handcuffed her. »

The whole time, Lashonn tried to explain that she couldn't understand what the officers were saying. But they continued to treat her like a hearing person who had posed an active danger to their safety.

At the end of the night, Lashonn never received the help she'd asked for. Instead, Tacoma PD put her in jail, for sixty hours, without an interpreter. For sixty hours, Lashonn couldn't explain herself or ask for help. This is an outrage.

Demand justice for Lashonn White immediately. »

Thanks for taking action!
