Call for Change for Gun Laws

Speaking to the families of those killed in the Newton, CT school shooting, President Obama vowed to use "whatever power this office holds" to prevent future tragedies.
"Are we really prepared to say that we're powerless in the face of such carnage? That the politics are too hard? Are we prepared to say that the violence visited upon our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?" he said in an apparent reference to the 20 children, aged 6 to 7, who were killed on Friday along with six adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
The White House has been mum about specifics, according to Roll Call.
Around the country, Senators and Congressman alike have joined the call for reform to our nation's gun laws. Speaking on MSNBC, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., called for a new conversation on gun control, one that addresses the number of rounds each gun holds and assault weapons.
Senate Majority Leader Reid called on Congress to take action, and asked that "every idea must be on the table."
