Rewarding people and businesses for their valuable participation in the community is more than a feel-good kind of thing for those being rewarded.  It’s also inspirational to those watching from the sidelines.

Such is the case with Thursday’s 2013 IMAGINE Awards by the city of El Centro, which partners each year with sponsors to recognize businesses in areas spelled out by the awards’ acronym.  These awards are: Innovator, Motivator, Architect of Change, Genius, Industrious, Noble and Entrepreneur.  This year’s awards went to, in order of the acronym, Caliber Screenprinting, Childers and Associates, Imperial Valley Press, Sanders Architecture and Engineering, Sobe’s, Heart and Hand and Johnny’s Burritos.  The seven businesses are among the more than 2,000 that operate in El Centro [, California].

Since the first awards were handed out in 2008, the practice has been to recognize those who exhibit all of the seven characteristics, with emphasis on one of those seven categories.

While this year the Press wasn’t watching from the sidelines, it was difficult not to be moved by stories of the other businesses that unfolded in video presentations.  Watching Patty McGrew and her daughter, Jennifer Thomason, describe the work of Heart and Hand, an assisted living residential home founded by the duo that was honored with the Noble award, was compelling and motivating.  Inspiration also came through watching attorney Ryan Childers describe his determination to build a practice in his home community, or restaurateur Sobeida Jackson tell of her appreciation for the customers that frequent the restaurant that bears her name, and all the others whose reasons for existing within El Centro resulted in public recognition.

Each year a group of people is tasked with sifting through nominations for the awards, which can be no easy undertaking.  And while we are delighted to be among this year’s recipients as Architects of Change, we also are humbled to be included in such an outstanding group representing myriad businesses and customer service in our community.

THE ISSUE: IMAGINE Awards

WE SAY: Recipients are inspirational.

IMAGINE 2013 Awards
KYMA TV, Yuma, Thursday, March 28, 2013

With over two-thousand businesses in El Centro, Director of Economic Development for the City, Marcela Piedra said choosing only seven to win an award was tough but the idea for the 2013 IMAGINE Awards was to highlight businesses that shine in the community.
"We recognize the fact that they're creating jobs here in our community.  Some of the businesses have been here for over 100 years," said Piedra.
In a tough economy she says it is important to praise businesses that come to El Centro and Mayor Bill Solomon agrees.
"It's not like we're not doing the right thing, and we are.  We're just happy their doing the business in El Centro," said Solomon.
Apart from much support from the city, the fifth annual IMAGINE Awards has many sponsors including News 11.  Businesses that won were nominated by the community and were praised for many traits including innovation and motivation.

The El Centro, California Economic Development Department is responsible for business and economic development activities throughout the City of El Centro.  The division is the primary liaison with business owners, property owners, developers and local business oriented organizations to aid in the attraction and retention of businesses. President Obama repeatedly promised that his signature health law, the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, would reduce insurance premiums by $2,500 for the typical family.  Instead, premiums have increased by a comparable amount.  Video compilation by Naked Emperor News of TheBlaze.com.  For more on how Obama came up with this faulty projection, read this account in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/23/us/23health.html?_r=3&pagewanted=all ...

"Bread and Circuses" (or bread and games) (from Latin: panem et circenses) is a metaphor for a superficial means of appeasement. In the case of politics, the phrase is used to describe the creation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through diversion; distraction; or the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace, (source: Wikipedia)

STUDY: Health overhaul to raise claims cost 32%...
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A new study finds that insurance companies will have to pay out an average of 32 percent more for medical claims on individual health policies under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

Study estimates Obamacare could raise individual claim costs 32 percent
By John Solomon, Washington Guardian, 26Mar13
Actuaries groups offers sobering look at the rising costs for individual insurance coverage plans under Obama health law
One of the nation's premier experts in numbers has a tough diagnosis for President Barack Obama's health care law.
In a report that could prove a big political headache for the administration, the Society of Actuaries estimated Tuesday that insurers will have to pay out an average of 32 percent more for claims on individual health policies under the Affordable Care Act, a cost likely to be passed on to consumers.
While some areas will see declines in medical claims costs, the report predicts the majority of states will see double-digit increases in their individual health insurance markets, where people purchase coverage directly from insurers rather than get coverage from employers.
By 2017, the estimated increase would be 62 percent for California, about 80 percent in Ohio and Wisconsin, more than 20 percent for Florida and 67 percent for Maryland.  Much of the reason for the higher claims costs is that sicker people are expected to join the pool, the report said.
The report did not make similar estimates for employer plans, the mainstay for workers and their families.  That's because the primary impact of Obama's law is on people who don't have coverage through their jobs.
The report also predicts the law will reduce the number of Americans without health insurance from 16.6 percent to between as low as 6.6 percent after three years.
The Associated Press has a good summary of the debate the report generated.  Here's what AP had to say:
The administration questions the design of the study, saying it focused only on one piece of the puzzle and ignored cost relief strategies in the law such as tax credits to help people afford premiums and special payments to insurers who attract an outsize share of the sick.  The study also doesn't take into account the potential price-cutting effect of competition in new state insurance markets that will go live on Oct. 1, administration officials said.
At a White House briefing on Tuesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said some of what passes for health insurance today is so skimpy it can't be compared to the comprehensive coverage available under the law.  "Some of these folks have very high catastrophic plans that don't pay for anything unless you get hit by a bus," she said.   "They're really mortgage protection, not health insurance."
A prominent national expert, recently retired Medicare chief actuary Rick Foster, said the report does "a credible job" of estimating potential enrollment and costs under the law, "without trying to tilt the answers in any particular direction."
"Having said that," Foster added, "actuaries tend to be financially conservative, so the various assumptions might be more inclined to consider what might go wrong than to anticipate that everything will work beautifully."  Actuaries use statistics and economic theory to make long-range cost projections for insurance and pension programs sponsored by businesses and government.  The society is headquartered near Chicago.
Kristi Bohn, an actuary who worked on the study, acknowledged it did not attempt to estimate the effect of subsidies, insurer competition and other factors that could mitigate cost increases.  She said the goal was to look at the underlying cost of medical care.
"Claims cost is the most important driver of health care premiums," she said.
"We don't see ourselves as a political organization," Bohn added. "We are trying to figure out what the situation at hand is."
On the plus side, the report found the law will cover more than 32 million currently uninsured Americans when fully phased in.  And some states - including New York and Massachusetts - will see double-digit declines in costs for claims in the individual market.
Uncertainty over costs has been a major issue since the law passed three years ago, and remains so just months before a big push to cover the uninsured gets rolling Oct. 1.  Middle-class households will be able to purchase subsidized private insurance in new marketplaces, while low-income people will be steered to Medicaid and other safety net programs.  States are free to accept or reject a Medicaid expansion also offered under the law.
Obama has promised that the new law will bring costs downThat seems a stretch now.   While the nation has been enjoying a lull in health care inflation the past few years, even some former administration advisers say a new round of cost-curbing legislation will be needed.
Bohn said the study overall presents a mixed picture.
Millions of now-uninsured people will be covered as the market for directly purchased insurance more than doubles with the help of government subsidies.  The study found that market will grow to more than 25 million people.  But costs will rise because spending on sicker people and other high-cost groups will overwhelm an influx of younger, healthier people into the program.
Some of the higher-cost cases will come from existing state high-risk insurance pools.  Those people will now be able to get coverage in the individual insurance market, since insurance companies will no longer be able to turn them down.  Other people will end up buying their own plans because their employers cancel coverage.  While some of these individuals might save money for themselves, they will end up raising costs for others.
Part the reason for the wide disparities in the study is that states have different populations and insurance rules.  In the relatively small number of states where insurers were already restricted from charging higher rates to older, sicker people, the cost impact is less.
"States are starting from different starting points, and they are all getting closer to one another," said Bohn.
The study also did not model the likely patchwork results from some states accepting the law's Medicaid expansion while others reject it.  It presented estimates for two hypothetical scenarios in which all states either accept or reject the expansion.
Larry Levitt, an insurance expert with the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation, reviewed the report and said the actuaries need to answer more questions.
"I'd generally characterize it as providing useful background information, but I don't think it's complete enough to be treated as a projection," Levitt said.  The conclusion that employers with sicker workers would drop coverage is "speculative," he said.
Another caveat: The Society of Actuaries contracted Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, to do the number-crunching that drives the report.  United also owns the nation's largest health insurance company.  Bohn said the study reflects the professional conclusions of the society, not Optum or its parent company.

by Da Tagliare, God Father Politics, We. March 27, 2013
Would you allow your 14 and 12 year old daughters to go on a spring break trip?  Probably not, I know I never did.  As a matter of fact, I don't believe in the whole spring break trip thing because it usually leads to behaviors that I consider very inappropriate for adults, let alone teenagers and pre-teen.
In the midst of the sequestration cuts when federal budgets are being slashed left and right, workers being furloughed, our border protection weakened, air traffic control towers closing, Malia and Sasha Obama are living it up at a very expensive resort on our tax dollars.  Rooms at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas range from the cheap no frill $300 a night range to the luxury suites that go for $25,000 or more a night.  You can bet that the First Daughters aren't staying the $300 a night rooms.
Neither the White House or the Atlantis have confirmed the reports of the Obama girls' spring break trip, people at the resort have been tweeting like crazy about seeing them.  Several people tweeted about seeing them at Club Crush, a nightclub geared for teens and tweens.  One tweet went out saying:
"OBAMA'S DAUGHTERS SMILED AND WAVED AT ME.  I WAS IN THE SAME ROOM AS OBAMA'S DAUGHTERS."

Tweeters blow Sasha, Malia's cover as First daughters vacation in Bahamas for Spring Break

Andrew RamosPublished on Youtube by Andrew Ramos, Mar 26, 2013
While many youngins' opted for the wild beaches of Cancun and South Beach for Spring Break, First daughters Sasha and Malia are reportedly living it up in the Bahamas.  According to Breitbart, the Obama girls were spotted at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.  Although the White House and the resort refused to confirm the report, guests staying at Atlantis were quick to blow Sasha and Malia's cover via Twitter.  "Obama daughters at the same restaurant as me ... in the Bahamas," tweeted one user, while another went as far as tweeting a photo of Obama's motorcade, which was obtained by Breitbart.  An excited Emma Serikaku shot off a tweet in all CAPS saying "OBAMA'S DAUGHTERS WERE AT CLUB CRUSH. OBAMAS DAUGHTERS SMILED AND WAVED AT ME. I WAS IN THE SAME ROOM AS OBAMA'S DAUGHTERS.  Clearly, Emma is a huge fan and supporter of "Obama's daughters."   Club Crush if you are wondering -- is the premiere nightclub for tweens and teenagers on Paradise Island.  Party on, ladies.

Since no one is officially confirming the trip, there is no way at this point in time to know how much the trip is costing US taxpayers.  Last year, Malia, then 13 spent her spring break in Mexico at a cost of $115,500 to taxpayers.  With the two daughters on this trip and the prices at the Atlantis, I would not be surprised if this year's spring break extravaganza costs us over $250,000.
As a taxpayer, I find this type of behavior to be extremely offensive and insensitive.  Obama is using the sequester to put our borders in danger by furloughing Border Patrol and Customs agents; he's putting people's lives in jeopardy by closing a number of air traffic control towers; and hurting the wallets of many federal employees who will be losing up to 20+ days of pay from furloughs.  Then he turns around and spends possibly a quarter million dollars of taxpayer money for his daughter's spring break.
Add to that Vice President Joe Biden's one night stay in Paris that cost us $585,000.
Budget cuts need to start at the top with Obama.  There is no justification for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars for a spring break trip at a time of such financial crisis.  I also believe that they should ground Air Force One and keep Obama in Washington to do his job.  He doesn't need to travel around the country to just look down on all of us lowly peasants and he doesn't need to make any more trips overseas.  Once the economy recovers sufficiently, then perhaps the Obamas can take a week's vacation, but not 4-6 vacations a year.
We also need to bill the Obamas for White House freeloaders like Michelle's mother who has been living high off the hog in the presidential mansion since the first day they moved in.  Get rid of the $100,000 per year dog walker and the $227,000 a year calligraphers.
Taxpayers forget that the president and all of Congress work for us.  We technically are their bosses, although you'd never know it by the way they operate.  They all believe that we work for them, but if you read the Constitution, it's the other way around and things won't change unless we force them to change.

o'der leader - Hitler 1933 & Obama 2008: Comparing speeches

Comparing acceptance speeches: Adolf Hitler 1933 and Barack Obama 2008
In 1933 when Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, he gave an acceptance speech in which he described the then-current condition of Germany as having "seen the unity of the nation vanishing away, dissolving in a confusion of political and personal opinions, economic interests, and ideological differences."  In speeches that mesmerized the German people he promised change, unity and peace if the people would be "obedient" and follow his plans for National Socialism described in his book, Mein Kampf.

Last night Barack Obama made pretty much the same promise.  He described this nation as facing the "greatest challenges of our lifetime" and promised change, unity and peace, if only we now will rise and follow him as "one people" into his version of national socialism.

Like Adolf Hitler, before he had any accomplishment to report, Obama wrote his autobiography "Dreams of My Father."  And, like Hitler, Obama is viewed emotionally by most of his nation as one who can "save" them from problems or discomforts they experienced during a previous government.  Now that he has been elected, Obama tells us, "at this defining moment, change has come to America."

The remaking of Germany into Hitler's dream of National Socialism led to World War II and more than 50 million deaths worldwide.  I pointed out in March that Obama's message (http://www.bannerofliberty.com/BOL-2008MQC/3-19-2008.1.html) in effect was that MOST Americans are "victims" who can only be saved by Obama as president and a socialist government — apparently entirely financed by the 5% of the population he calls "rich."

We had two choices: to vote for: John McCain, who has a long and public record of his love for this nation, his courage and willingness to serve and sacrifice for America and Barack Obama who is an accomplished orator who didn't have the love, courage or willingness to defend his own pastor when, after 20 years of being a member of his church, the man's sermons were made public.  Obama has given only words and a book he wrote about himself for Americans to judge him by.
Below are comparisons of Obama's and Hitler's speeches upon gaining the leadership of their nations.  Although there now are many histories written about Hitler's leadership of Germany, none of them seem to reflect the upbeat mood of his acceptance speech of February 1, 1933. :

MORE than fourteen years have passed since the unhappy day when the German people, blinded by promises from foes at home and abroad, lost touch with honor and freedom, thereby losing all.  Since that day of treachery, the Almighty has withheld his blessing from our people.  Dissension and hatred descended upon us. .

The misery of our people is horrible to behold!  Millions of the industrial proletariat are unemployed and starving; the whole of the middle class and the small artisans have been impoverished.  When this collapse finally reaches the German peasants, we will be faced with an immeasurable disaster.  For then not only shall a nation collapse, but a two-thousand-year-old inheritance, some of the loftiest products of human culture and civilization.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.  For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime — two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.  Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us.

All about us the warning signs of this collapse are apparent.  And as leaders of the nation and the national Government we vow to God, to our conscience, and to our people that we will faithfully and resolutely fulfill the task conferred upon us.

The inheritance which has fallen to us is a terrible one.  The task with which we are faced is the hardest which has fallen to German statesmen within the memory of man. But we are all filled with unbounded confidence for we believe in our people and their imperishable virtues.  Every class and every individual must help us to found the new Reich.

The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and co-operation.  It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built.  It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life....

Turbulent instincts must be replaced by a national discipline as the guiding principle of our national life.  All those institutions which are the strongholds of the energy and vitality of our nation will be taken under the special care of the Government.

The National Government intends to solve the problem of the reorganization of trade and commerce with two four-year plans:

There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor's bills, or save enough for college.  There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long.  Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America — I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.  I promise you — we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts.  There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can't solve every problem.  But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face.  I will listen to you, especially when we disagree.  And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years — block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night.  This victory alone is not the change we seek — it is only the chance for us to make that change.  And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.  It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other.  Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers — in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

The German farmer must be rescued in order that the nation may be supplied with the necessities of life....

A concerted and all-embracing attack must be made on unemployment in order that the German working class may be saved from ruin....

The November parties have ruined the German peasantry in fourteen years.  In fourteen years they have created an army of millions of unemployed.  The National Government will, with iron determination and unshakable steadfastness of purpose, put through the following plan:

Within four years the German peasant must be rescued from the quagmire into which he has fallen.

Within four years unemployment must be finally overcome.  At the same time the conditions necessary for a revival in trade and commerce are provided.  The National Government will couple with this tremendous task of reorganizing business life a reorganization of the administrative and fiscal systems of the Reich, of the Federal States, and the Communes.

Only when this has been done can the idea of a continued federal existence of the entire Reich be fully realized....

Compulsory labor-service and the back-to-the-land policy are two of the basic principles of this program.

The securing of the necessities of life will include the performance of social duties to the sick and aged.

In economical administration, the promotion of employment, the preservation of the farmer, as well as in the exploitation of individual initiative, the Government sees the best guarantee for the avoidance of any experiments which would endanger the currency.

As regards its foreign policy the National Government considers its highest mission to be the securing of the right to live and the restoration of freedom to our nation.  Its determination to bring to an end the chaotic state will assist in restoring to the community of nations a State of equal value and, above all, a State which must have equal rights.  It is impressed with the importance of its duty to use this nation of equal rights as an instrument for the securing and maintenance of that peace which the world requires today more than ever before.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

May the good will of all others assist in the fulfillment of this our earnest wish for the welfare of Europe and of the whole world.  Great as is our love for our Army as the bearer of our arms and the symbol of our great past, we should be happy if the world, by reducing its armaments, would see to it that we need never increase our own.

If, however, Germany is to experience this political and economic revival and conscientiously fulfill her duties toward the other nations, one decisive step is absolutely necessary first: the overcoming of the destroying menace of communism in Germany.  We of this Government feel responsible for the restoration of orderly life in the nation and for the final elimination of class madness and class struggle.   Reich's präsident von Hindenburg has called upon us to bring about the revival of the German nation.  Unity is our tool.  Therefore we now appeal to the German people to support this reconciliation.  The National Government wishes to work and it will work.  It did not ruin the German nation for fourteen years, but now it will lead the nation back to health.  It is determined to make well in four years the ills of fourteen years.  But the National Government cannot make the work of reconstruction dependent upon the approval of those who wrought destruction.  The Marxist parties and their lackeys have had fourteen years to show what they can do.  The result is a heap of ruins.

Now, people of Germany, give us four years and then pass judgment upon us.  In accordance with Field Marshal von Hindenburg's command we shall begin now.  May God Almighty give our work His blessing, strengthen our purpose, and endow us with wisdom and the trust of our people, for we are fighting not for ourselves but for Germany.

...And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn — I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world — our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.  To those who would tear this world down — we will defeat you.  To those who seek peace and security — we support you.  And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright — tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America — that America can change.  Our union can be perfected.  And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.  This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations.  America, we have come so far.  We have seen so much.  But there is so much more to do . So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century - what progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call.  This is our moment.  This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth — that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can.  Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America

"This is the secret of propaganda.  It is the saturation of a group of people with propagandist ideas without their even noticing it.  Of course, propaganda has a goal but the goal must be so clever and so brilliantly concealed that the people who are influenced by it don't notice anything."
-- Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, Gauleiter of Berlin, Minister of Propaganda, Nazi Germany
(born Rheydt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, October 29, 1897 - Berlin, Germany, May 1, 1945), German politician, Minister of Propaganda National Socialist Germany, a key figure in the regime, friend and intimate of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany's Chancellor in succession.

Paul Joseph Goebbels (German: [ˈɡœbəls]; (29 October 1897 -- 1 May 1945) was a German politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945.  As one of Adolf Hitler's closest associates and most devout followers, he was known for his zealous orations and visceral and homicidal antisemitism.
Goebbels earned a PhD from Heidelberg University in 1921, writing his doctoral thesis on 19th century romantic drama; he then went on to work as a journalist and later a bank clerk and caller on the stock exchange.  He also wrote novels and plays, which were rejected by publishers.  Goebbels came into contact with the National Socialist German Worker's Party (NSDAP) or Nazi Party in 1923 during the French occupation of the Ruhr and became a member in 1924.  He was appointed Gauleiter (regional party leader) of Berlin.  In this position, he put his propaganda skills to full use, combating the Social Democratic Party of Germany and Communist Party of Germany and seeking to gain their working class supporters.  Goebbels despised capitalism, viewing it as having Jews at its core, and he stressed the need for the Nazis to emphasize both a proletarian and national character.  By 1928, he had risen in the party ranks to become one of its most prominent members.
Goebbels rose to power in 1933 along with Hitler and the Nazi Party and he was appointed Propaganda Minister.  One of his first acts was the burning of books.  He exerted totalitarian control over the media, arts and information in Germany.
From the beginning of his tenure, Goebbels organized attacks on German Jews, commencing with the one-day boycott of Jewish businessmen, doctors, and lawyers on 1 April 1933.  His attacks on the Jewish population culminated in the Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass) assault of 1938, an open and unrestrained pogrom unleashed by the Nazis across Germany, in which scores of synagogues were burned and hundreds of Jews were assaulted and murdered.  Further, he produced a series of antisemitic films (most notably Jud Süß).  Goebbels used modern propaganda techniques to ideologically prepare the German people for aggressive warfare.
During World War II, Goebbels increased his power and influence through shifting alliances with other Nazi leaders.  By late 1943, the tide of the war was turning against the Axis powers, but this only spurred Goebbels to intensify the propaganda by urging the Germans to accept the idea of total war and mobilization. Goebbels remained with Hitler in Berlin to the end.  After Hitler's suicide, Goebbels succeeded him as Chancellor.  Goebbels along with his wife Magda killed their six young children, and then committed suicide.  The couple's bodies were burned in a shell crater, but owing to the lack of petrol, the burning was only partly effective.
Nazi official Hans Frank suggested that Alois's mother had been employed as a housekeeper for a Jewish family in Graz and that the family's 19-year-old son, Leopold Frankenberger, had fathered Alois.  Because no Frankenberger was registered in Graz during that period, and no record of Leopold Frankenberger's existence has been produced, historians dismiss the claim that Alois's father was Jewish.[8][9]In private discussions in 1939, Hitler declared Britain the main enemy to be defeated and that Poland's obliteration was a necessary prelude to that goal. The eastern flank would be secured and land would be added to Germany's Lebensraum.  Offended by the British "guarantee" on 31 March 1939 of Polish independence, he said, "I shall brew them a devil's drink".  In a speech in Wilhelmshaven for the launch of the battleship Tirpitz on 1 April, he threatened to denounce the Anglo-German Naval Agreement if the British continued to guarantee Polish independence, which he perceived as an "encirclement" policy.  Poland was to either become a German satellite state or be neutralised to secure the Reich's eastern flank and to prevent a possible British blockade.  Hitler initially favoured the idea of a satellite state, but upon its rejection by the Polish government, he decided to invade and made this the main foreign policy goal of 1939.  On 3 April, Hitler ordered the military to prepare for Fall Weiss ("Case White"), the plan for invading Poland on 25 August.  In a Reichstag speech on 28 April, he renounced both the Anglo-German Naval Agreement and the German -- Polish Non-Aggression Pact.  In August, Hitler told his generals that his original plan for 1939 was to "... establish an acceptable relationship with Poland in order to fight against the West".  Historians such as William Carr, Gerhard Weinberg, and Ian Kershaw have argued that one reason for Hitler's rush to war was his fear of an early death.

o'no budget - Social Security and Military not on the List

o'tax'n spend appears to care less about the deficit beit the regular annualized short falls or the long term unfunded liabilities.  His actions only prolong the final collapse of the economy which is likely his plan anyway...to destroy free enterprise and capitalism - to bring about his Marxist 'utopian' socialist state which will be the final nail in America's coffin.  No one honestly believes a single word coming from this usuper.  Even so-called liberals are beginning to undercut his rhetoric.  His buffonery is becoming obvious to all but his diehard 'eater zombies'. -- rfh
