At about 7:50 p.m. (19:50 Pacific time) Wednesday night, November 6th, 2013 a meteor? streamed high in the sky from the east streaking very very fast to the west. It appeared to burn out above the west of California's coast about 70 to 80 degrees up from the horizon from where I was, 120 miles east from San Diego. It's trail appeared white. Just before disappearing it made two rapid bright flashes one almost like a flash from a camera ...momentarily brightening the ground. It must have been high up in the atmosphere, silent, but after 30 or 40 seconds later I heard several closely spaced "somewhat muffled" booms. Does anyone know what it was?
WISH I WOULD HAVE GONE OUTSIDE WHEN YOU DID - WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!
ReplyDeleteJust heard from my co-worker that people in the stands at Southwest High School last night (Junior Varsity football game) saw the meteor fly over. Liz was at the football game with her family members.
