Communicate With Other NumbersUSA Members On News Articles, Videos, Member of Congress Pages
We've expanded one of our most popular website features this week. Now, you can make comments at the bottom of all of our home page news articles -- and read the comments left from other readers. You can do the same on every video, including Roy's new video blog, explaining how the border fence has helped revive the ecosystems. These are the latest in a long series of changes to our website this year to put the 920,000 of you in touch with each other, especially through the addition of Local Power. We recognize that one of our greatest assets is the expertise of our members, and we want you to learn from -- and teach -- each other. Through Local Power, did you know there is a special Tip-Line section for each U.S. Senator and Representative? When you go to the Local Power page for your three Members of Congress, you will see a Tip-Line for each of them. There you can read the comments of your fellow citizens after they have made phone calls to Members' offices or encountered them back home in meetings and in public. On each congressional Member's page, you can also start and join in discussions trying to figure out how to influence that Member, and also how to plan visits to the Member's offices. We appreciate your willingness to listen to us, but we also think that all of you have a lot to offer to each other. Please get involved in one of these discussions now, and make a habit of checking them out regularly. Thanks, Chris Chmielenski Website Content Manager |

Immigration Enforcement DOES Belong in Senate Floor Debate About Unemployment Payments
By Roy Beck, Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Sen. Durbin (D-Ill.) uses his leadership position continually to make false claims about E-Verify's reliability and to project the absolutely foolish notion that unemployment and immigration have no relationship. But while he laments the 125,000 who have recently lost their unemployment benefits (I do, too), he ignores the fact that HIS immigration policies now in place have given out 125,000 brand new work permits to foreign workers during the last month. Profoundly Wrong: 'We Were Strangers, Too: the Jewish Campaign for Immigration Reform'
By Charles Breiterman, Monday, October 26, 2009
Major Jewish groups have started a campaign saying we should welcome the illegally present because we were strangers in the land of Egypt. But Exodus is very clear that the Jews went to Egypt at the specific direction of the Pharaoh. That means they entered and settled in the country legally. By Roy Beck, Sunday, October 25, 2009
Veteran journalist Stephen Dinan this weekend published the most informative and balanced report to date on the environmental issues at stake along the border. While most environmental groups fight the building of fences along the Mexican border, Dinan found caretakers of the environment down there who said the building of a fence has allowed the desert to sprout back to life.
