illegals - An open letter: "Great example of what SB 1070 means."

From: gg/tf Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2010  "Well said!!  Well said indeed!!," GG.

If you had tickets to a sports event, concert,  Disneyland , or on an airplane, and when you got to your assigned seat, and someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would be properly asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, and they would not be able to produce one. They would be called "gate crashers" and they would be properly removed.

Now in this huge stadium called the
USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!

In section AZ, of Stadium
USA , we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 sections, and even many in our own section do not want tickets checked, or even be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for so I am going to proudly show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it. Such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation.
Is that what I am hearing from all of the protesters such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Representative Grijalva, even President Obama?  If you are not in favor of showing tickets,(proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would proudly do, then you must be condoning those illegal activities.

o'scamcare - Inconvenient Truths: 10 Facts about American Health Care

reposted from http://www.ncpa.org/pub/ba649 (National Center for Policy Analysis, NCPA)
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 by Scott Atlas

Medical care in the United States is derided as miserable compared to health care systems in the rest of the developed world. Economists, government officials, insurers and academics alike are beating the drum for a far larger government rôle in health care. Much of the public assumes their arguments are sound because the calls for change are so ubiquitous and the topic so complex. However, before turning to government as the solution, some unheralded facts about America's health care system should be considered.

Fact No. 1: Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers.[1] Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Prostate cancer mortality is 604 percent higher in the U.K. and 457 percent higher in Norway. The mortality rate for colorectal cancer among British men and women is about 40 percent higher.

Fact No. 2: Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians.[2] Breast cancer mortality is 9 percent higher, prostate cancer is 184 percent higher and colon cancer mortality among men is about 10 percent higher than in the United States.

Fact No. 3: Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries.[3] Some 56 percent of Americans who could benefit are taking statins, which reduce cholesterol and protect against heart disease. By comparison, of those patients who could benefit from these drugs, only 36 percent of the Dutch, 29 percent of the Swiss, 26 percent of Germans, 23 percent of Britons and 17 percent of Italians receive them.

Fact No. 4: Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians.[4] Take the proportion of the appropriate-age population groups who have received recommended tests for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer:

Nine of 10 middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to less than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent).
Nearly all American women (96 percent) have had a pap smear, compared to less than 90 percent of Canadians.
More than half of American men (54 percent) have had a PSA test, compared to less than 1 in 6 Canadians (16 percent).
Nearly one-third of Americans (30 percent) have had a colonoscopy, compared with less than 1 in 20 Canadians (5 percent).

Fact No. 5: Lower income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians. Twice as many American seniors with below-median incomes self-report "excellent" health compared to Canadian seniors (11.7 percent versus 5.8 percent). Conversely, white Canadian young adults with below-median incomes are 20 percent more likely than lower income Americans to describe their health as "fair or poor."[5]

Fact No. 6: Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the U.K. Canadian and British patients wait about twice as long - sometimes more than a year - to see a specialist, to have elective surgery like hip replacements or to get radiation treatment for cancer.[6] All told, 827,429 people are waiting for some type of procedure in Canada.[7] In England, nearly 1.8 million people are waiting for a hospital admission or outpatient treatment.[8]

Fact No. 7: People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed. More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British adults say their health system needs either "fundamental change" or "complete rebuilding."[9]

Fact No. 8: Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians. When asked about their own health care instead of the "health care system," more than half of Americans (51.3 percent) are very satisfied with their health care services, compared to only 41.5 percent of Canadians; a lower proportion of Americans are dissatisfied (6.8 percent) than Canadians (8.5 percent).[10]

Fact No. 9: Americans have much better access to important new technologies like medical imaging than patients in Canada or the U.K. Maligned as a waste by economists and policymakers naïve to actual medical practice, an overwhelming majority of leading American physicians identified computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the most important medical innovations for improving patient care during the previous decade.[11] [See the table.] The United States has 34 CT scanners per million Americans, compared to 12 in Canada and eight in Britain. The United States has nearly 27 MRI machines per million compared to about 6 per million in Canada and Britain.[12]

Fact No. 10: Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations.[13] The top five U.S. hospitals conduct more clinical trials than all the hospitals in any other single developed country.[14] Since the mid-1970s, the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology has gone to American residents more often than recipients from all other countries combined.[15] In only five of the past 34 years did a scientist living in America not win or share in the prize. Most important recent medical innovations were developed in the United States.[16] [See the table.]

Conclusion. Despite serious challenges, such as escalating costs and the uninsured, the U.S. health care system compares favorably to those in other developed countries.

jobs - 1.1 Million New Green Cards Issued in 2009

NumbersUSA.com:   Friday, April 9, 2010

While nearly 3 million Americans lost their jobs in 2009, the federal government issued more than 1 million new Green Cards over the same period of time. According to a new DHS report, 1,130,818 new Green Cards were issued to legal immigrants last year - the highest single-year number since 2006 and the fourth highest in history.
Of the new Green Cards issued, 47,879 new arrivals won their Green Cards through theVisa Lottery. The lottery awards new Green Cards without consideration of an individual's financial or social situation. Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) has offered H.R.2305, which would eliminate the Visa Lottery and is one ofNumbersUSA's 5 Great Immigration-Reduction Bills.
Nearly 750,000 of the new Green Cards were issued to family members of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) has offered H.R.878, which wouldeliminate certain categories of the family sponsored visas and is also one of NumbersUSA's 5 Great Bills. The bill would reduce the total number of extended family-based Green Cards by more than 100,000.
Residents from Mexico received the most Green Cards with 164,920 (14.6%). The next three biggest recipients came from Asia with China receiving 64,238, the Philippines receiving 60,029, and India receiving 57,304. Overall, Asia received the largest amount with more than 400,000.

o'treason - threatens Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson, Close Offutt Air Force Base

Source, 15Dec09: http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/12/source_dems_threaten_nelson_in_1.asp

Dems Threaten Nelson In Pursuit of 60

While the Democrats appease Senator Lieberman, they still have to worry about other recalcitrant Democrats including Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson. Though Lieberman has been out front in the fight against the public option and the Medicare buy-in, Nelson was critical of both. Now that those provisions appear to have been stripped from the bill, Lieberman may get on board, but Nelson's demand that taxpayer money not be used to fund abortion has still not been met. According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn't fall into line.

Offutt Air Force Base employs some 10,000 military and federal employees in Southeastern Nebraska. As our source put it, this is a "naked effort by Rahm Emanuel and the White House to extort Nelson's vote." They are "threatening to close a base vital to national security for what?" asked the Senate staffer.

Indeed, Offutt is the headquarters for US Strategic Command, the successor to Strategic Air Command, and not by accident. STRATCOM was located in the middle of the country for strategic reasons. Its closure would be a massive blow to the economy of the state of Nebraska, but it would also be another example of this administration playing politics with our national security.

Obama Threatens Sen. Nelson With Closure of Strategic Command HQ

Apparently, Sen. Nelson of Nebraska is being threatened over his healthcare reform vote:

Is President Obama a “foreign and domestic enemy” of America and its citizens?
by Mark Epstein, 15Aug09

The administration’s approach to internal dissent coupled with a foreign policy embracing the leadership tactics of the terroristic and oppressive regimes of our sworn enemies (i.e., the “Death to America” crowd) is alarming. If we are to objectively analyze the totality of Obama’s actions, then we cannot disassociate the president’s foreign and domestic policies revealing his behavior toward the American people and our enemies — including continuing to lump in close to 12 million illegal non-Americans in his “46 million uninsured Americans” figure. Moreover, we cannot ignore the “top cover” the mainstream media provides the president, as it invents distractions to avoid real discussion of substantive issues germane to the overall debate of Obama’s domestic and foreign agendas.

To begin the analysis of Obama as a constitutionally-defined “foreign enemy” of the United States, we can ask a few simple questions. If your health care plan doesn’t include providing illegal aliens health coverage, then why does the number of uninsured still include them? Since we know that not all illegal aliens are Mexicans working in various low-paying jobs Americans supposedly do not want, then how will the plan distinguish between a Mexican residing in the US illegally from a terrorist who merely used a student visa to gain access to American soil? If the Taliban are not terrorists, then why are we prosecuting a war in Afghanistan? What’s the threat to our country? How can you reasonablly equate Palestinian terrorists who vow another country’s total destruction and the genocide of its people with the only democracy in the Middle East? Why do your public policies and public actions (behavior) embrace totalitarian regimes and why does your administration’s policies toward dissenters to Obamacare resemble the behavior of said totalitarian regimes?

Although the evidence may still be inconclusive as to whether the president is a “foreign enemy” of the United States, it is time to begin asking the question — without any reference to a birth certificate.

Americans Moving in Our Direction

By Chris Chmielenski, Friday, October 23, 2009
Two new polls reveal that Americans favor lower immigration numbers, stronger border and interior enforcement, and oppose giving amnesty to the 12-18 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States. While Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) works on a "comprehensive immigration reform" bill that would provide a mass amnesty to illegal aliens and increase America's overly generous immigration numbers, Americans want a very different solution.

GOOD NEWS: 75% of Evangelical Member Denominations DON'T Sign NAE's Pro-Amnesty Document
Roy Beck
By Roy Beck, Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Sen. Chuck Schumer's attempt to claim overwhelming evangelical Christian support for his pending amnesty legislation has crumbled. His master plan was to use the staff and leadership of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) to give the impression of near unanimity. The NAE tried. But after the members in the pew erupted, only 11 of the 40 NAE member denominations have been willing to sign on to endorse amnesty and Schumer's "comprehensive immigration reform" agenda.

A Few Evangelical Leaders Defend Pro-Amnesty Stance With Straw Men (they say they don't support BLANKET amnesty)
Roy Beck
By Roy Beck, Monday, October 19, 2009
It appears that the dwindling number of evangelical leaders who support amnesty resort to the same kind of dodgy defenses as pro-amnesty politicians in Washington when they come under fire from the voters back home. They set up straw men based on accusations that have NOT been made against them and then proceed to easily knock them down. This is undignified for congressmen, and far more so for otherwise distinguished religious leaders.

Hospitality to Illegal Aliens While Looking at the Others in the Room (the individual moral complication)
Roy Beck
By Roy Beck, Sunday, October 18, 2009
So, I confess I helped perhaps a couple of dozen illegal aliens yesterday at my neighborhood church. It is a United Methodist congregation. The bishops of my church nationally are actively lobbying to give permanent U.S. jobs to those illegal aliens. But I want those jobs to go to unemployed Americans. Why do my bishops think they are more ethical and humanitarian than me because they lobby against jobless Americans? And why did I help the illegal aliens?

Recent News
Americans Moving Our Way, says two recent polls

Chris ChmielenskiTwo new polls show that the majority of Americans support lower immigration numbers and oppose amnesty.
Rasmussen Reports conducted a poll earlier this month and recently released the results. Despite recent DHS action to reduce the role that local law enforcement plays in assisting with enforcement, 64% of Americans want local police to conduct raids where illegal aliens look for work. Seventy-one percent want the employers who hire illegal aliens arrested, too.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released on Thursday revealed that three in every four Americans thought the number of illegal aliens living in the United States should be decreased. CNN has been asking the question for four years, and that's the biggest response yet.
Make sure your Members of Congress know these figures. Visit your Local Power page for contact information and tell your Congressmen to vote against an amnesty and fight for stronger enforcement.

o'cap & tax - Obama Raises Taxes On All Americans?

From: CDFE Sent: Tuesday, October 20, 2009

The Carbon Lie Is Being Used To Raise Everyone's Taxes

To give cover for the Obama "Energy Tax", a White House Global Warming Report and the EPA are Hiding New Research on Global Cooling and Are Still Blaming Carbon Dioxide for Global Warming.

WITHOUT CARBON DIOXIDE TO BLAME THE GOVERNMENT TAX INCREASE OF HISTORIC PROPORTIONS ON ALL AMERICANS FLIPPING ON A LIGHT SWITCH IS NOT NEEDED AND EVEN THE EPA KNOWS THE REPORT IS A LIE.

Turning on the Light = Cap and Trade = $3,200/year Tax Increase

Has OBAMA broken his pledge when he said "...No family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase... NOT ANY OF YOUR TAXES."

The Obama administration's global warming report contains no new research and is scaring the public with misinformation using the grimmest, most urgent language on global warming ever to come out of any White House. Rising sea levels, sweltering temperatures, deeper droughts, and heavier downpours - blaming carbon for global warming's alleged serious effects and lying to the country to collect the "Energy Tax" passed by the House before going on vacation.

But was the report complete? Did it have all the relevant data? NO!  Americans Must Know The Truth About Global Cooling! We have launched plans for a multi-million dollar TV and online media campaign to reach millions before the Senate Votes to raise taxes with the new "Energy Tax" on all Americans but we need your financial help.

The Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise (CDFE) a non-profit 501(c)(3) non-partisan education and research organization is promoting the creation and distribution of Our Media Campaign "The Great Carbon Energy Tax". This free enterprise project is focused on getting all the Tax and Energy information to Americans that the Government and lobbyists seek to hide and ignore.

Getting to the Truth About Global Warming

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla has ordered an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency's alleged suppression of a 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin that questioned the science behind global warming.

The report details how regulating gases like carbon dioxide WILL NOT reduce global warming. Carlin's report states that the information the EPA is using is out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.

Inhofe said "He (Carlin) came out with the truth. They don't want the truth at the EPA," he's ordered an investigation. "We're going to expose it."

CARBON FACT: CO2 DOES NOT Cause Global Warming!

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) Data:  The Truth For seven and a half years, is that global temperatures have been falling rapidly. The UN IPCC's predicted warming path (pink region) bears no relation to the global cooling data that the IPCC has observed in the 21st century to date. Source: SPPI global temperature index.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Is Food For Plants not "Air Pollutant"

CO2 is not an "air pollutant," but rather food for plants and marine life. And its atmospheric levels are controlled by temperature and other biological/chemical variables -- not the other way around (Just as: Lung Cancer does not cause smoking). But most of all, a magical CO2 knob for controlling weather and climate simply does not exist.

Carbon Fact: The "Energy Bill" Will Not Reduce Global Warming?

The graphs below show the effect of spending billions of dollars on the Waxman/Markey bill will have on Global Temperature and Sea Levels.
Waxman/Markey Climate Bill Will Scarcely Affect Temperatures

Temperature change predicted by the UN, and (dotted line) adjusted to reflect the negligible impact of the Waxman/Markey Climate Bill, which might cut temperatures by 0.2-0.02 F by 2100, at a cost of $18 trillion. Source: Chip Knappenberger: cost estimates $180 bn/year from the White House.

illegals - Poll: Mexicans Say Amnesty Would Increase Illegal Immigration

From: kd Sent: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 [FYI -- Mark Krikorian]

WASHINGTON (October 14, 2009) – A new survey by Zogby International finds that people in Mexico think that granting legal status to illegal immigrants would encourage more illegal immigration to the United States. As the top immigrant-sending country for both legal and illegal immigrants, views on immigration in Mexico can provide insight into the likely impact of an amnesty, as well as other questions related to immigration.

The results are available online at the Center for Immigration Studies' website. Among the findings:
  • A clear majority of people in Mexico, 56 percent, thought giving legal status to illegal immigrants in the United States would make it more likely that people they know would go to the United States illegally. Just 17 percent thought it would make Mexicans less likely to go illegally. The rest were unsure or thought it would make no difference.
  • Of Mexicans with a member of their immediate household in the United States, 65 percent said a legalization program would make people they know more likely to go to America illegally.
  • Two-thirds of Mexicans know someone living in the United States; one-third said an immediate member of their household was living in the United States.
  • Interest in going to the United States remains strong even in the current recession, with 36 percent of Mexicans (39 million people) saying they would move to the United States if they could. This is consistent with a recent Pew Research Center poll which found that about one-third of Mexicans would go to the United States if they could. At present, 12 to 13 million Mexico-born people live in the United States.
  • An overwhelming majority (69 percent) thought that the primary loyalty of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) should be to Mexico. Just 20 percent said it should be to the United States. The rest were unsure.
  • Also, 69 percent of people in Mexico felt that the Mexican government should represent the interests of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) in the United States.
  • A plurality, 39 percent, of Mexicans thought that in the last year fewer people they know had gone to the United States as illegal immigrants compared to previous years. Only 27 percent thought more had gone. The rest thought it had stayed the same or were unsure.
  • A plurality, 40 percent, also thought that in the last year more of the illegal immigrants they know had returned to Mexico compared to previous years. Only 25 percent thought the number returning had fallen. The rest thought it had stayed the same or were unsure.
  • Both the bad economy and increased immigration enforcement were cited as reasons fewer people were going to America as illegal immigrants and more were coming back to Mexico.
Discusssion: As the nation begins debates the issue of immigration, the perspective of people in Mexico is important because Mexico is the top sending country for both legal and illegal immigrants. In 2008 one of six new legal immigrants was from Mexico and, according to the Department of Homeland Security, 6 out of 10 illegal immigrants come from that country.

Asking people in Mexico their views on immigration can provide insight into the likely impact of an amnesty for illegal immigrants and other questions related to immigration. This survey is the first to ask people in Mexico if they thought legalizing illegal immigrants in the United States would encourage more illegal immigration. The survey was conducted in August and September of 2009 and consisted of 1,004 in-person interviews of adults throughout Mexico. The findings show that a majority of people in Mexico think that an amnesty would make it more likely that people in Mexico would come to the United States illegally. This is especially true for people who have a member of their households living in the United States.

It is important to note that respondents were asked specifically about whether an amnesty would make illegal immigration more likely, not just immigration generally. Other questions in the survey explore attitudes about migration to United States generally, recent trends in migration, and loyalty to the United States. The results may give pause to those lawmakers who think that an amnesty/legalization for illegals immigrants would reduce illegal immigration in the future. The findings of this survey indicate that an amnesty would encourage more illegal immigration, at least from Mexico.

Methodology: The in-person survey done in Mexico for the Center for Immigration Studies by Zogby International was of 1,004 persons 18 years of age and older. The sampling framework was the most recent (2009) electoral sections defined by the Federal Electoral Institute. A multi-stage sampling procedure was employed that first randomly selected 100 electoral sections proportional to size. Second, two house blocks were randomly selected from each section. Within each block five households were selected using a systematic random procedure. The margin of error for the entire sample is +/- 3.1% for a 95% confidence level. Margins of error are larger for sub-groups.

New TV ads:  challenge continuing immigration while 15 million Americans are jobless

DEAR FRIENDS,

I'm excited to tell you that with special designated contributions, NumbersUSA has joined with several other organizations to mount a new ad campaign on national TV.

You will see this "Elevator Ad" running at various times on nearly every program on CNN and Fox, day and night.

No. 1: View the ad here.

We are running this ad to proclaim to the nation the dirty secret that is being protected by nearly all news media and by nearly all politicians.

The dirty secret that the elites don't want the American people to know is: The federal government is continuing to import foreign workers into this country despite 15 million workers already being unemployed.

No. 2: IT IS TIME TO SUSPEND MOST IMMIGRATION.

If that sounds too radical to you, please read my blog calling for an Immigration Suspension Bill.

I talk about the fact that even our allies in Congress are too timid to introduce a bill that should be mandated by the current Jobs Depression. Please read my suggestions for action in using the TV ads and faxes to apply pressure on all Members of Congress to stop all immigration except U.S. citizens' spouses and minor children, and special-needs refugees, until unemployment is low again.

No. 3: Watch my video blog for this week.

Some people say they like getting their marching orders in person. So, come into my office on the banks of the Potomac and let me describe to you our action needs of the week.

No. 4: Go to your personalized Action Buffet and avail yourself of as many actions as you can take.

There is so much pressure needed to focus your Senators and U.S. Representative on the immigration issues and what needs to be done. Our Action Buffet Team has added a number of new actions this week.

You were great yesterday. Joe Jenkins sent you some alerts later in the day. Before midnight, you had already send 98,000 faxes to Congress!!!

No. 5: NOTICE THE NEW DESIGN OF YOUR ACTION BUFFET CORKBOARD.

You will see the corkboard surrounded by some new tabs that are part of our brand new Local Power initiative on our website.

After you have taken actions, please click around on this revised web page and see the new features. Especially note the convenient page that shows all three or your Members of Congress, with grades, discussions, contact info and a Tip Line for you to use.

We will be talking much more about this as time goes on, as we develop far more volunteer leadership from among the top activists in each District.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE CHECKING OUT ALL TOWN HALL OPPORTUNITIES. The links to the Town Hall meetings are listed under the photo of each Member of Congress on your My Three Congressmembers page.

And, as always, keep coming back to the NumbersUSA home page every day to keep up with the latest in immigration news, views, videos and actions.

THANKS, Roy Beck
NumbersUSA - relies upon individuals like you to reach its goal of an environmentally sustainable and economically just America.

By Ronald W. Mortensen
CIS Blog, October 12, 2009
http://www.cis.org/mortensen/corruption

Excerpt: At a time when 83% of Americans view government corruption as a very important problem, isn't it time that we stop fostering a culture of corruption by failing to control illegal immigration?

Most illegal aliens come from countries where corruption is rampant. In 2008, the average corruption score of the ten countries with the largest number of their citizens residing illegally in the United States was 3.43 out of a possible ten signifying a serious to rampant level of corruption. By Jerry Kammer
CIS Blog, October 9, 2009
http://www.cis.org/kammer/humantoll

Excerpt: In visits to the communities around six Swift meat packing communities for a CIS report published earlier this year, I was struck at how often I heard workers and former workers use similar language to express their bitterness about safety conditions. They would say, 'This plant doesn't just kill animals. It kills people, too.' Return to Top

5. 'Another Such Victory Will Undo Me!'*
By Stephen Steinlight
CIS Blog, October 9, 2009

Excerpt: The Hill newspaper, in 'Appropriators deal blow to border fence,' reports House conferees killed a $42.8 billion appropriation in the Senate's version of the 2010 Homeland Security spending bill, an amendment inserted in July by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) adopted with majority Republican support and the votes of 21 Democrats. Return to Top

By Jerry Kammer
CIS Blog, October 8, 2009
http://www.cis.org/kammer/walls

Excerpt: Mexican government officials complain bitterly about the wall that the U.S. has constructed along sections of the southern border to discourage illegal immigration. Today, writing in the Mexican newspaper El Universal about the brutal social and economic inequalities that propel much illegal immigration, columnist Ricardo Rocha notes the construction of 'stately versions of Chinese walls so the poor don't bother the rich' in the city of Monterrey. 7. An Inside Look at Three Sheriff's Departments Using 287(g)
By Jessica Vaughan
CIS Blog, October 8, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Vaughan/Minimalist287%28g%29

Excerpt: DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano took a swipe at her erstwhile rival, the popular Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, by unceremoniously yanking his investigative 287(g) program late last week. Since previous audits found no serious problems, DHS seems to be throwing a bone to the many ethnic and civil liberties groups who resent Arpaio's unapologetic attention to addressing the crime problems resulting from illegal immigration, and who are constantly clamoring for the program to be ended entirely. To their dismay, DHS definitely wants to keep Arpaio's jail removal program, which has so far identified more than 18,000 criminal aliens, and dozens of other 287(g) programs remain intact around the country. Representatives of these programs report that it's still "business as usual" in their jurisdictions. You can find out what that means, and how the 287(g) program enhances public safety while reducing criminal justice costs by viewing the first installment in a series of "webinars" on 287(g), produced by LEAPS.TV, and hosted by the Center. 8. California Senate Embraces Lawlessness
By Jon Feere
CIS Blog, October 8, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Feere/CASenateResolution-GilbertCedillo

Excerpt: The California state Senate recently passed a resolution in support of non-enforcement of immigration law. It was authored by State Senator Gilbert Cedillo (D-Los Angeles), a man who has made a name for himself by constantly pushing for driver's licenses for illegal aliens. The resolution's purpose is to "urge Congress and the President of the United States to declare an immediate moratorium" on the enforcement of certain immigration laws until an amnesty is passed on the federal level. While the resolution does not have the force of law, it does illustrate how radical some lawmakers are in their support for open borders. It passed the Senate by a margin of 23-14. Return to Top

9. Fuzzy Words Foul Up the Immigration Policy Debate
By David North
CIS Blog, October 7, 2009
http://www.cis.org/north/terminology

Excerpt: The use of deliberately fuzzy terms -– 'undocumented worker' is my favorite -– continues to cloud the immigration policy debate, always to the detriment of the restrictionists' position.

A good example popped up in yesterday's New York Times; the headline was 'Ideas for Immigrant Detention Include Converting Hotels and Building Models'. In the article the term 'noncitizens' was used to define the inmates. Return to Top

10. Martinez's Warning to Republicans
By Jerry Kammer
CIS Blog, October 7, 2009
http://www.cis.org/kammer/martinez

Excerpt: As someone who lived in Arizona in the 1990s, when a large influx of illegal immigrants were met with a backlash that continues today, I agree with the warning from recently retired GOP Sen. Mel Martinez in today's Washington Post. It comes in a column from Michael Gerson, who writes of the electoral risks to Republicans if they are associated with virulent criticism of illegal immigrants. Return to Top

By Jon Feere
CIS Blog, October 7, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Feere/LouDobbs-Obama287%28g%29MOA

Excerpt: I appeared on CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight for a segment on the Obama administration's changes to 287(g), a highly-successful program that allows state and local law enforcement officers to assist ICE in carrying out immigration enforcement. Many activist groups opposed to enforcement of our immigration laws are seeking to end the program. Return to Top

12. Catch and Release Redux
By Janice Kephart
CIS Blog, October 6, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Kephart/ICEDetentionReform

Excerpt: The Obama Administration is ignoring hard and unpleasant lessons learned from decades of prior failed immigration policies. 'Alternatives to Detention' (ATD) is just another way to say 'Catch and Release,' which was the thorn in the side of the prior administration until they stopped it and put rule of law in place. Although managing detention facilities and their population well is a good goal, simply doing it by reducing the illegal population and dispersing them back into American communities does not help enforce immigration law or make our communities more secure. CIS Blog, October 6, 2009

14. The Immigration Managers - The Departments of Labor and Justice
By David North
CIS Blog, October 6, 2009
http://www.cis.org/north/managers4

Excerpt: The principal U.S. migration management agency has done a lot of institutional migrating over the decades. During the late 19th Century, as the Bureau of Immigration, it was first in the Department of the Interior, and then in the Treasury Department. It moved to the no-longer-existing Department of Commerce and Labor in 1903, and then became one of the main parts of the Department of Labor when it was created in 1913. It stayed in Labor for a long time, by now as the Immigration and Naturalization Service, until World War II, when it was moved to Justice, where it remained until the passage of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. 15. Sacrificing American Children for Illegal Alien Health Insurance
By Ronald W. Mortensen
CIS Blog, October 5, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Mortensen/IDTheft-IllegalImmigration

Excerpt: When Senate Finance Committee Democrats defeated an amendment last week that would have required photo identification for health benefits on a straight party-line vote, they joined their House colleagues in defending a culture of corruption that results in millions of American children having their identities being used by illegal aliens to obtain benefits that they are not entitled to. 16. Heritage Homeland Security University
By Janice Kephart
CIS Blog, October 5, 2009
http://www.cis.org/Kephart/HeritageHomelandSecurityUniversity

Excerpt: The following is an overview of Border ID Programs and a comparison of where these program were under the Bush Administration and where they stand today under the Obama Administration.

Most of these programs are based on the 9/11 Commission recommendation that we must assure that people are who they say they are and are authorized to gain the privilege they are seeking, whether it is to enter the country, work, or get a driver license, for example. A few of these programs have been on the books since 1996, like E-Verify, but most of them are post-9/11 programs. You will see the programs listed in blue down the left column and a series of columns describing the programs and their current status, broken down by the shift in U.S. leadership. The chart is meant to be a take-away from this talk, and for now, I just want to highlight some important nuggets. Return to Top

The federal government has accumulated more new debt -- $3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29) — during the tenure of the 111th Congress than it did during the first 100 Congresses combined, according to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury." -- By Terence P. 3 years ago: The Debt ~ $125T+! Then Obama:  Up $22T+ in only 3 years! $22T to $26T+ by 2015!  Since November 2011 to January 2013 he has added $2 Trillion to the deficit!  States' Unfunded: $3.2T+! • (Dec10) From Jan'09 the deficit: $10.2T→$14.6T up $4.3T/42%! -- Federal unfunded liabilities total $84 trillion .. equal to 5.7 percent of the present value of all future GDP, which translates into about 31 percent of the long run federal revenue estimate,” the report states.  “Thus federal revenues would have to rise immediately and permanently to 24.1 percent of GDP to cover the fiscal imbalance.” (source: http://dailycaller.com/2012/07/16/report-federal-unfunded-liabilities-total-84-trillion/)

Many Americans actually pay $1 out of ever $2 earned to some form of tax while ~50% of people pay no taxes!  Do you pay your bills?  The Fed takes $3 in and spends $5.  Debt per citizen: $51,985 - Debt per taxpayer: $142,513! (13Dec12)

What were you doing in the last hour while the U.S. Gov't spent $188 Million Dollars of our money!  (Every Hour, Every Day!) (Apr11)   In 8 years, President Bush added $5 trillion to the national debt; President Obama, according to a revised Dec11 GAO report, added $4T+ to the U.S. deficit in 2011 alone!  The GAO estimates the deficit, including o'scamcare & mandates, may grow from $15T+ to over $26T+!  UPDATE: A little-noticed event occurred at approximately midnight on Monday, October 31, 2011.  The National Debt exceeded the GDP!  Imagine what these numbers are going to be now that Obama is reelected! A trillion seconds pass in 31,688 years.  At $1/sec it would take 41,194 years just to pay off o'tax'n spend's new Feb12-Feb13 added debt - 538,696 years to pay only the national debt or 4,404,632 years to settle the debt+unfunded liabilities!

"Over the last four years our national debt has risen nearly $6 trillion, and just last week the debt topped an astounding $16 trillion.  To put that in perspective, $16 trillion is enough money to fund the US military, along with the military of every NATO country combined… for the next sixteen years!  Government spending is projected to hit $3.8 trillion this year alone.  Even after every tax dollar paid by Americans has been counted, the government will still overspend by another $1.13 trillion.  Every single second of the day our government spends over $12,000.  So in the time it takes you to read this article, roughly five minutes, our government has spent $3.6 million.  It take four seconds for the government to spend what the average American earns in an entire year."  (source: by Tim Phillips 17Sep12 at TownHall.com)
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself.  They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good." -- George Washington

It has been suggested that o'who?, the clown, and 'those who surround him' are not the bumbling fools they appear to be.  Nor are they one of the 'Three Stooges' but rather are shrewd implementation/drivers and fellow-travelers of policies designed to disarm the citizenry & collapse the American economy.  Why?  o'nocchio's grandiose scheme to "fundamentally transform America" is more than simple campaign rhetoric as can be seen by his use of "enabling acts" to circumvent the Constitution of the United States.  As Ollie used to say, "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into."

"As a nation we have been asleep for years.  Lulled by affluence and self-indulgent apathy, our collective awareness has grown dim.  This has created an opening for our enemies, one that may ultimately prove fatal.  This is the truth and what we do, or don't do, will determine the consequences, for better or worse.  It is time to decide." -- truthandcons.blogspot.com
