Your students are the answer

Dear Robert,

You are receiving this email because your school delivered or contemplated implementing the GenYES Student Technology Leader (STL) Model. GenYES has continued to evolve and is now become an essential technology integration strategy. Teachers, administrators, and IT staff can no longer provide all the necessary tech support and are looking at their students to take on substantial responsibility.

Now is the time to plan your GenYES program for 2015-16. If you need support in any of the areas listed below, call us and we can discuss your needs and how we can help you leverage the energy and expertise of your students to meet your goals. Also, depending on your past history with GenYES, substantial discounts or free access is available.

Forward,

1. Teacher Assistance Projects (TAPs)

GenYES is a complete curriculum, ticketing system, tech skill inventory, and online community for grades 3-12. Check out some Teacher Assistance Projects STLs have helped teachers complete.

2. IT Staff Assistance

Check out some examples of how GenYES students are helping to maintain tech infrastructure.

3. One to One Deployment, Maintenance,
and Integration

When hundreds and even thousands of laptops and tablets come into a K-12 school, it is imperative that teams of GenYES students help support and drive learning on these devices. Check out this white paper entitled Student Support of 1:1 Initiatives.

4. Technology Literacy

STLs can help ensure that all students are technology literate. The TechYES platform provides a comprehensive set of project based tools aligned to the ISTE Standards for Students. Student show they are tech literate by creating multimedia projects in their technology or academic courses. Check out the "Assessing Technology Literacy" White paper and the "TechYES At a Glance" animation.

5. Meeting Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards

Many new standards entail the use of technology. Generation YES has identified these so teachers can align projects to them. STLs help their teachers and peers produce these projects and asses them when they are completed.

6. STEM Support

STEM learning requires students to create projects and artifacts. STLs can help teachers and peers with this process.

7. Digital Citizenship and Child Safety

Students learn about these important issues by researching and creating multimedia projects with support coming from STLs. Curriculum includes: online personal safety, computer safety and security, and copyright/citations issues.

8. Career and College Readiness

Generation YES has worked with many schools to develop pathway models for both CTE and non-CTE students. Students participating in GenYES are gaining workplace experience in their school while learning critical 21st Century Skills.
