     At age 18, Barack Obama admittedly arrived at Occidental College a committed revolutionary Marxist.  What was the source of Obama's foundation in Marxism?  Throughout his 2008 Presidential campaign and term in office, questions have been raised regarding Barack Obama's family background, economic philosophy, and fundamental political ideology.  Dreams from My Real Father is the alternative Barack Obama "autobiography," offering a divergent theory of what may have shaped our 44th President's life and politics.

Obama's Third-Party History

New documents shed new light on his ties to a leftist party in the 1990s

     On the evening of January 11, 1996, while Mitt Romney was in the final years of his run as the head of Bain Capital, Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today's headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States toward European-style social democracy, which was precisely the New Party's goal.

     In late October 2008, when I wrote here at National Review Online that Obama had been a member of the New Party, his campaign sharply denied it, calling my claim a "crackpot smear." Fight the Smears, an official Obama-campaign website, staunchly maintained that "Barack has been a member of only one political party, the Democratic Party." I rebutted this, but the debate was never taken up by the mainstream press.
Recently obtained evidence from the updated records of Illinois ACORN at the Wisconsin Historical Society now definitively establishes that Obama was a member of the New Party. He also signed a "contract" promising to publicly support and associate himself with the New Party while in office.
     Minutes of the meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party's Chicago chapter read as follows:

Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions.  He signed the New Party "Candidate Contract" and requested an endorsement from the New Party.  He also joined the New Party.

     Consistent with this, a roster of the Chicago chapter of the New Party from early 1997 lists Obama as a member, with January 11, 1996, indicated as the date he joined.
     Knowing that Obama disguised his New Party membership helps make sense of his questionable handling of the 2008 controversy over his ties to ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). During his third debate with John McCain, Obama said that the "only" involvement he'd had with ACORN was to represent the group in a lawsuit seeking to compel Illinois to implement the National Voter Registration Act, or motor-voter law. The records of Illinois ACORN and its associated union clearly contradict that assertion, as I show in my political biography of the president, Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism.
     Why did Obama deny his ties to ACORN? The group was notorious in 2008 for thug tactics, fraudulent voter registrations, and its role in popularizing risky subprime lending. Admitting that he had helped to fund ACORN's voter-registration efforts and train some of their organizers would doubtless have been an embarrassment but not likely a crippling blow to his campaign. So why not simply confess the tie and make light of it? The problem for Obama was ACORN's political arm, the New Party.
     The revelation in 2008 that Obama had joined an ACORN-controlled, leftist third party could have been damaging indeed, and coming clean about his broader work with ACORN might easily have exposed these New Party ties. Because the work of ACORN and the New Party often intersected with Obama's other alliances, honesty about his ties to either could have laid bare the entire network of his leftist political partnerships.
     Although Obama is ultimately responsible for deceiving the American people in 2008 about his political background, he got help from his old associates. Each of the two former political allies who helped him to deny his New Party membership during campaign '08 was in a position to know better.
     The Fight the Smears website quoted Carol Harwell, who managed Obama's 1996 campaign for the Illinois senate: "Barack did not solicit or seek the New Party endorsement for state senator in 1995." Drawing on her testimony, Fight the Smears conceded that the New Party did support Obama in 1996 but denied that Obama had ever joined, adding that "he was the only candidate on the ballot in his race and never solicited the endorsement."
     We've seen that this is false. Obama formally requested New Party endorsement, signed the candidate contract, and joined the party. Is it conceivable that Obama's own campaign manager could have been unaware of this? The notion is implausible. And the documents make Harwell's assertion more remarkable still.
     The New Party had a front group called Progressive Chicago, whose job was to identify candidates that the New Party and its sympathizers might support. Nearly four years before Obama was endorsed by the New Party, both he and Harwell joined Progressive Chicago and began signing public letters that regularly reported on the group's meetings. By prominently taking part in Progressive Chicago activities, Obama was effectively soliciting New Party support for his future political career (as was Harwell, on Obama's behalf). So Harwell's testimony is doubly false.
     When the New Party controversy broke out, just about the only mainstream journalist to cover it was Politico's Ben Smith, whose evident purpose was to dismiss it out of hand. He contacted Obama's official spokesman Ben LaBolt, who claimed that his candidate "was never a member" of the New Party. And New Party co-founder and leader Joel Rogers told Smith, "We didn't really have members." But a line in the New Party's official newsletter explicitly identified Obama as a party member. Rogers dismissed that as mere reference to "the fact that the party had endorsed him."
     This is nonsense. I exposed the falsity of Rogers's absurd claim, and Smith's credulity in accepting it, in 2008 (here and here). And in Radical-in-Chief I took on Rogers's continuing attempts to justify it. The recently uncovered New Party records reveal how dramatically far from the truth Rogers's statement has been all along.
     In a memo dated January 29, 1996, Rogers, writing as head of the New Party Interim Executive Council, addressed "standing concerns regarding existing chapter development and activity, the need for visibility as well as new members." So less than three weeks after Obama joined the New Party, Rogers was fretting about the need for new members. How, then, could Rogers assert in 2008 that his party "didn't really have members"? Internal documents show that the entire leadership of the New Party, both nationally and in Chicago, was practically obsessed with signing up new members, from its founding moments until it dissolved in the late 1990s.
     In 2008, after I called Rogers out on his ridiculous claim that his party had no members, he explained to Ben Smith that "we did have regular supporters whom many called 'members,' but it just meant contributing regularly, not getting voting rights or other formal power in NP governance." This is also flatly contradicted by the newly uncovered records.
     At just about the time Obama joined the New Party, the Chicago chapter was embroiled in a bitter internal dispute. A party-membership list is attached to a memo in which the leaders of one faction consider a scheme to disqualify potential voting members from a competing faction, on the grounds that those voters had not renewed their memberships. The factional leaders worried that their opponents would legitimately object to this tactic, since a mailing that called for members to renew hadn't been properly sent out. At any rate, the memo clearly demonstrates that, contrary to Rogers's explanation, membership in the New Party entailed the right to vote on matters of party governance. In fact, Obama's own New Party endorsement, being controversial, was thrown open to a members' vote on the day he joined the party.
     Were Harwell and Rogers deliberately lying in order to protect Obama and deceive the public? Readers can decide for themselves. Yet it is clear that Obama, through his official spokesman, Ben LaBolt, and the Fight the Smears website, was bent on deceiving the American public about a matter whose truth he well knew.
     The documents reveal that the New Party's central aim was to move the United States steadily closer to European social democracy, a goal that Mitt Romney has also attributed to Obama. New Party leaders disdained mainstream Democrats, considering them tools of business, and promised instead to create a partnership between elected officials and local community organizations, with the goal of socializing the American economy to an unprecedented degree.
     The party's official "statement of principles," which candidates seeking endorsement from the Chicago chapter were asked to support, called for a "peaceful revolution" and included redistributive proposals substantially to the left of the Democratic party.
     To get a sense of the ideology at play, consider that the meeting at which Obama joined the party opened with the announcement of a forthcoming event featuring the prominent socialist activist Frances Fox Piven. The Chicago New Party sponsored a luncheon with Michael Moore that same year.
     I have more to say on the New Party's ideology and program, Obama's ties to the party, and the relevance of all this to the president's campaign for reelection. See the forthcoming issue of National Review.
In the meantime, let us see whether a press that let candidate Obama off the hook in 2008 — and that in 2012 is obsessed with the president's youthful love letters  — will now refuse to report that President Obama once joined a leftist third party, and that he hid that truth from the American people in order to win the presidency.

    Over the weekend, Adam Kokesh (”Adam vs. the Man”) headed down to Occupy D.C.’s “Anti-Capitalist Teach-In,” where he captured some curious comments from participants.  Among the bizarre statements to come from protesters was the notion that Occupiers may be organizing within the military in an effort to see a “revolution” unfold.
     “Rod,” a self-described member of the Progressive Labor Party, said that he and his compatriots have been encouraging others to “think in terms of building revolution against this whole system of capitalism.”  He went on to say that the fight must be taken to industrial workers, the military, campuses — even churches.
     “The other thing we stress is building a base in the military.  If we’re talking about revolution, it means we have to win other some section of the military to be on our side and most of them are working class people just like the rest of us… We have people organizing inside the military…,” Rod explained (around 1:50).  He continued:

“Our goal is to have everybody in the party, everything organized collectively, everything coordinated, everyone engaged in the discussion and the debate.  Our feeling is that some of the worst behavior is the idea of making profit off of another person.”

     He also went on to praise soldiers who refused orders during Vietnam.
     During the course of Kokesh’s discussion with the protesters, it seems there was some confusion over what “capitalist production” means.  It didn’t take long for the protesters to tire of his questioning.
     At one point, one of the participants asked Kokesh if he’s a “prostitute,” due to his support of capitalist ideals.

     If you’re wondering how we can possibly afford “Medicare for all” when we can’t afford Medicare for some, you obviously missed this video from a few weeks ago of Jones reassuring America that we are not in fact broke, no matter how many zeroes there might be up on that national debt scoreboard.  All we need to do to build the progressive welfare state of our dreams is get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, nationalize health care so that we can dictate the price of services to medical practitioners from coast to coast, and hike taxes on the rich — and eventually the middle class, of course — way way waaaaay up.  How far up? Really far.  It’s working for Europe, isn’t it?

I bought and read "Audacity of Hope".  It was difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything American.  Let me add a phrase he use to describe his attitude toward whites.  He harbors a "COIL OF RAGE."   His words not mine.

Everyone of voting age should read these two books:  Don't buy them, just get them from the library.

    President Barack Obama in the biggest "Duh!" this side of Charlie Sheen announced he's going to run for re-election. The conventional wisdom: he's in better shape going into 2011 than the Republicans. Is the conventional wisdom correct? Is it wrong?
     If you consider where Barack Obama is politically, and where he could be given his overflowing plate of problems, the conclusion is: as of April 2011 it looks like Barack Obama will be re-elected since the Republicans are gravitas-candidate challenged. But beware: there are as many "on the other hands" in this political picture as hands on the Hindu Goddess Kali.
    In just one day you can read that: a)a sitting President is almost never defeated unless he faces a challenge for the Presidential nomination from within his own party b)Franklin Roosevelt and Bill Clinton were the only Democratic Presidents in the past 90 years who were re-elected. History suggests Obama's chances look good. Wait! History suggests Obama's chances look BAD.
Here's a thumbnail guide of "yes he's ahead" and "no he can lose." Hold onto it going into election year.
Seven factors that put Obama in a good position for re-election:
1. Independent Voters: Polls now show Obama gaining back some lost independent voter support as he takes some stands upsetting his party's liberal base. Reports suggest he is consciously playing to the middle. It worked for Bill Clinton.
2. By Default His Coalition Stands Behind Him: He'll likely again get support from the increasingly growing block of Hispanic voters, plus African-Americans, young voters and seniors.
3. The New Republican Party: The National Journal's Charlie Cook writes that "talking with Republican pollsters, strategists and veteran campaign professionals recently, I now hear sounds of concern that haven't been heard in almost two years." Cook echoes what I've often noted: there is a big gap between the GOP base's attitudes and demands and independent voters.
4. A Rebounding Economy: Job numbers are (for now) going up.
5. No Serious Democratic Challenger: Sorry, liberals. Dennis Kucinch would NOT qualify.
6. Organized Labor's Rebirth: Republican Governors have done more to revitalize the American labor movement than the American labor movement. 2012 will be labor payback time.
7. The GOP's Seniors Problem: Fine tuning Medicare is courageous but with no tax increases or sacrifices for the rich trying to touch it would be a gift to Democrats.
    But Barack Obama and the Democrats shouldn't start planning his post-election party yet..
    Conservative talk hosts continue to have enormous influence in motivating listeners to vote and pressuring Republicans in Congress. Fox News and the Internet give wide publicity to often inaccurate anti-Obama narratives which are picked up by the mainstream media — then covered more by Fox News and the Internet.
     The Obama team is a reactive-mode political "B team" that hasn't produced a Karl Rove or a James Carville.   And Obama? This legendary orator often comes across as boring and operates in defensive mode. Obama's political foes don't fear him. And then there's the economy, the economy and…the economy. The website 270toWin finds13 scenarios for a 2011 electoral vote tie.

Robert (Bob) Filner is a socialist leaning Democratic member of
the United States House of Representatives, representing the 51st district of California, which encompasses the San Diego area.

Bob Filner is the son of Joseph Filner, formerly a senior official of the Pennsylvania Communist Party USA.  Bob Filner is a 

Democratic Congressman for California’s 51st District.  Without doubt he is  one of the most far left members of the U.S. House of Representatives.


This is not surprizing, as Bob Filner’s father, Joseph Filner, was once a leading member of the Communist Party USA.  



In the 1940s Joseph Filner, when not changing baby Bob’s red diapers, was running a bakery business and serving as secretary of the Pittsburgh Communist Party.



After WW2, Joseph Filner entered the scrap metal business. He founded the Stainless and Alloy Corporation of America, eventually expanding its scope of operations worldwide and becoming a major agent for Soviet products and technology in the West.  One of Joseph Filner’s early business colleagues was Stanley Levison, a secret Communist and treasurer and money launderer for the Party.

Joseph Filner never forgot his socialist roots. In his later years, he used his wealth to create a charitable foundation, the Frieda Foundation, through which he gave to many leftist causes, especially programs to “rid the world of the threat of nuclear annihilation.”  In the 1980s Joseph Filner was a member of the far left American Committee on East-West Accord, a Washington, D.C.based tax-exempt “independent educational organization”, with the stated aim of “improving East/West relations, with special focus on U.S.-Soviet relations.”  Joseph Filner also endorsed the Kennedy-Hatfield Nuclear Freeze Resolution which was introduced in the Senate on March 10, 1982.

After beginning adult life as an early ’60s student radical, and as a college professor Bob Filner decided to run for Congress.  One of the people who campaigned for him was Andrew Young, then the far left mayor of Atlanta, Ga. Young remembered, Joseph Filner well. At one point, he told a campaign rally that he supported Bob Filner’s candidacy not only because of their shared Democratic viewpoints, but also, quite simply, “because of his daddy.

Bob Filner entered congress in 1990 and a year later was a founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a grouping of far left Congressmen organized by openly socialist independent Congressman Bernie Sanders and Democratic Socialists of America [DSA].  Bob Filner went on to form a very close relationship with D.S.A. – the U.S’s largest Marxist-based organization, which endures to this day.  In August 1996, over 300 people attended the San Diego Hearing on Economic Insecurity, “a forum intended to hammer home to a message to our elected officials that working America is hurting and to demand that government take corrective action.”

  The Hearing, involved groups such as the Gray Panthers, the ultra-radical National Lawyers Guild, Welfare Warriors and labor unions, but was initiated as a project of San Diego Democratic Socialists of America.

  However the main work in organizing and publicizing the hearing was carried out by DSA members…San Diego DSA realized that an effort of this magnitude needed a full time paid organizer. We were fortunate to be able to hire Stephanie Jennings, a veteran supporter and organizer of progressive action…. Stephanie kept in close touch with Boston DSA, with Alan Charney and Michele Rossi and DSA national office, with Chris Riddiough in our Washington DC office and with Tim Parks, Eric Vega and Duane Campbell in other California chapters.

Bob Filner even donated his campaign office to DSA phone bankers, soliciting support for the event;

In November 1999, Bob Filner attended D.S.A’s national convention, conveniently held in his home town of San Diego, where he had the honor of introducing his old comrade Bernie Sanders to the assembled socialists.

In 2004 San Diego Democratic Socialists of America supported Filner’s successful Congressional race.  Meanwhile, San Diego DSAers are involved in progressive Democrat Bob Filner’s 51st CD reelection race   DSA supported Filner again in 2006.

  San Diego DSA produced an email recommendation sheet for the membership covering all races and propositions on the November ballot, a popular tradition of the local that people ask for as elections approach. Activist members there went precinct walking for Representative Bob Filner.

  In 2008 Bob Filner attended a San Diego DSA function organized for City Council candidate Stephen Whitburn.

SD-DSA held a forum with about 20 participants on “DSA, the Left, and the Presidential Election.” They organized a fundraising event in April for City Council candidate Stephen Whitburn, which was attended by Congressman Bob Filner and raised about $1000.

On Oct. 26, 2009, Bob Filner spoke alongside fellow Congressional Progressive Caucus members, Jared Polis and the D.S.A. affiliated Jan Schakowsky at the JStreet 2009 Conference.

JStreeters Bob Filner and Jared Polis  JStreet is a leftist Jewish organization that, according to its
website, “was founded to change the dynamics of American politics and policy on Israel and the Middle East”.   JStreet has several Democratic Socialists of America members within its leadership and is regarded by its opponents as one of the most dangerous anti Israel groups in the country. They charge that JStreet’s real purpose is not to help Israel, but to help steer U.S. foreign policy away from supporting Israel to the benefit of that country’s Palestinian and Arab enemies.  In February 2010, the first JStreet-sponsored congressional mission toured Israel, Jordan and Palestinian-controlled areas. Five members of Congress participated in the tour; Lois Capps, Bill Delahunt, Bob Filner, Mary Jo Kilroy and Donald Payne.  It was stated that the mission “will meet with Israeli government and opposition leaders as well as key regional leaders, including Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. The delegation will travel widely in Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and Jordan taking a close look at the situation on the ground through the eyes of policy makers and civil society leaders.”  All members of this delegation came from the far left side of Congress and one, Ohio Democrat freshman Mary Jo Kilroy, has been a confirmed member of Democratic Socialists of America.

This was not Bob Filner’s first effort at international bridge building.  In February 2002 a delegation of leftist California Democratic Party Congressmen and women including Sam Farr, Diane Watson, Bob Filner and Mike Thompson, together with singer Carole King, visited Havana as part of the “latest effort to change U.S. policy toward Cuba.”  Carole King serenaded Fidel Castro with “You’ve Got a Friend” at a weekend dinner, replete with wines from Napa and Sonoma.  The delegates said their dinner with Castro at the Palace of the Revolution stretched from 9 p.m. Sunday until about 4:30 a.m. Monday.   During the meal, King also performed a new song, “Love Makes the World.”

Daddy Joseph Filner, wherever he is now, is surely proud that baby Bob has yet to change those red diapers.

This is one of the more Extreme US congressmen in congress. He is there because he has a massive war chest of funds he gets every year from the public workers union (contributor records link.)   One good thing about Filner is he doesn’t sit on the fence and hold a squishy middle ground; this Guy is as far left as you get on every issue.   His membership with the A.C.L.U and the Sierra club are molding his decisions from the water problems of California to the national security issues worldwide, and local Issues like voting to remove the Mount Soledad Cross.   I believe that if the public at large found out his radical views, they might think twice about voting him in again.  His father was  a communist leader and he was a founder of the Socialist Party of America.  [http://www.keywiki.org/index.php/Joseph_Filner#Communist_Party].

Bob Filner has such contempt for his Voters that he will make some drive 2 hours and 40 minutes, and 127 miles across the Imperial Valley desert to see a debate, he is obviously afraid to face the majority of his Voters.

Bob Filner know's how to use the media, but he's only told one obscure TV station in Arizona about the Debate.  

(Maybe because the people in Arizona are closer to it  than we are)
