2nd - Man gets 60 days in jail over home Bible studies

     A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after he refused to stop hosting Bible studies in the privacy of his home – in violation of the city's building code laws.
     However, the Phoenix city prosecutor's office said the violations have nothing to do with religious freedom — and everything to do with public safety.
     "It came down to zoning and proper permitting," said Vicki Hill, the chief assistant city prosecutor. "Any time you are holding a gathering of people continuously as he does — we have concerns about people being able to exit the facility properly in case there is a fire — and that's really all this comes down to."
     According to court documents provided to Fox News Radio, Michael Salman was found guilty in the City of Phoenix Court of 67 code violations. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail along with three years probation and a $12,180 fine. He could be jailed as early as next week unless the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals grants an emergency injunction.
     "They're cracking down on religious activities and religious use," Salman told Fox News Radio. "They're attacking what I as a Christian do in the privacy of my home."
     "If I had people coming to my home on a regular basis for poker night or Monday Night Football, it would be permitted," he said. "But when someone says to us we are not allowed to gather because of religious purposes – that is when you have discrimination."

     However, the Arizona courts consistently ruled against Salman – ultimately declaring that he was engaged in church activities and that the city did not violate his constitutional rights to religious freedom.
     The long-running feud between Salman and the City of Phoenix culminated in the summer of 2009 when nearly a dozen police along with city inspectors raided their home. Armed with a search warrant, police confined the Salman family to the living room as they combed the property looking for violations.
     Salman is the owner of Mighty Mike's Burgers — and he is also an ordained pastor. He and his wife have been hosting Bible studies on their 4.6 acre property since 2005. The gatherings were originally attended by as many as 15 people.
     Hill said the city became aware of the meetings after neighbors apparently complained about traffic congestion.
     In 2007 they received a letter from the city informing them that the Bible studies were not permitted in their living room because it was in violation of the construction code.
     A few months later, members of the Phoenix Fire Dept. broke up the family's Good Friday fellowship. As many as 20 people were in their backyard eating a meal when firefighters threatened to call the police – unless their guests left the premises.
     "Immediately after that, we decided to contact an attorney," Salman told Fox News Radio. "The city emphasized that bible studies or church-related activities are not permitted on residences because you have non-family members coming to the home and such use is considered church use."
     In the summer of 2008 firefighters once again broke up a gathering – and Salman finally reached his breaking point. He ordered the firefighters to leave his property.
     "We told them they had no right," he said. "They had been harassing us since February. This is our home. We are a private gathering. This is Christians gathering on my private property."
     The city ignored the Salmans until 2009 – when they built a 2,000 square foot building in their backyard. Salman said he applied for and was granted the proper building permits. He also said the building has passed a city inspection.
     "At that point we took our Bible study from our living room – and we moved it into that building," he said. "We started worshipping in that building every weekend."
     However, Hill said Salman has "mischaracterized the facts" of the permit. She said he was given a permit to convert a garage into a game room.
     "Any other occupancy or use – business, commercial, assembly, church, etc, is expressly prohibited pursuant to the city of Phoenix building code and ordinances," she told Fox News Radio.
     On June 11, 2009, the Phoenix Police Dept. showed up with a search warrant. When they had completed the search, Salman was charged with 67 code violations.
     He was charged with not having emergency exit signs over the doors. He was charged with not having handicap parking spaces and not having handicap ramps.
     "Imagine everything that a public building would have or a commercial building would have," he said. "Anything we didn't have was a violation."
     The largest source of contention has been whether or not Salman is running a church. He insists it is not.
     But his building certainly resembles a church. It has chairs for as many as 40 people. There is a pulpit. There's a sign out front – along with a cross.
     "Just because visitors come to my home three times a week and we discuss the Bible – if that's their definition of a church then so be it," he said.
     "At what point does the government have the right to state that you cannot have family and friends over at your home three times a week?" he asked. "People have a right to gather on their property as long as parking is available, as long as they aren't parking in the street, as long as they aren't violating noise ordinances."
     Hill said the facts are clear.
     "He built a structure that he said wasn't a church — that is in fact — a church," she said. "It's a church."
     And the courts agreed — noting in a Jan. 4, 2010 ruling: "The state is not saying the Salmans can't run a church or have worship services at the location. But the state is saying that if they do so, they must do it properly and in accord with fire and zoning codes."

     Salman's attorney has filed an appeal with the federal court – and unless they intervene – Salman will start serving his sentence on July 9.

BARACK Obama's long-lost "Uncle Omar" has been arrested for alleged drink-driving outside Boston and detained as an illegal immigrant, The Times can reveal.

     The arrest ends a mystery over the fate of a relative that the US President wrote in his memoir had moved to America from Kenya in the 1960s, although the circumstances of his discovery may now prove to be an embarrassment for the White House.
     Official records say Onyango Obama, 67, was picked up outside the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framingham, Massachusetts, at 7.10pm on August 24.      Police say he nearly crashed his Mitsubishi 4x4 into a patrol car, and then insisted that the officer should have given way to him.  A report filed with the Framingham District Court said that a breathalyser at the police station registered his blood alcohol at 0.14mg/100ml of blood, above the state limit of 0.08mg.
     According to a local newspaper, Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger, as well as failing to use a turn signal. He was detained as an illegal immigrant because the US Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has an outstanding warrant for him because he was previously ordered to be deported to Kenya.
     The Times has established from his birthdate that Mr Obama is the Uncle Omar mentioned in President Obama's best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father.  In the 1995 book, President Obama writes of "the uncle who had left for America 25 years ago and had never come back".
     In 2008, The Times mounted a search for Uncle Omar. Instead of finding him, we discovered his sister, President Obama's Auntie Zeituni, who was living as an illegal immigrant on a Boston housing estate.  Uncle Omar and Auntie Zeituni are the children of President Obama's grandfather Hussein Onyango Obama, by his third wife Sarah, the woman President Obama calls "Granny", because she raised his father, Barack Sr, who was Hussein Obama's son by Hussein's second wife, Akumu.
     The 2008 investigation unearthed public records naming an O. Onyango Obama, born on June 3, 1944, living at a house in the Boston suburbs, where he was known as Obama Onyango.  Framingham police records list the man arrested last week as Onyango Obama, with the same birth date, June 3, 1944.
     According to local reports, Officer Val Krishtal and another driver had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting Mr Obama's car, which rolled through a stop sign and took a quick left turn.  Mr Obama allegedly told the officer he had right of way and said he doubted the officer was forced to brake hard as he did not hear his brakes squeal.
     Mr Obama pleaded not guilty at his remand hearing, but was held in custody because of the immigration warrant.  He now faces a legal battle.  His sister Zeituni eventually won the right to live in America despite an earlier deportation order.  Margaret Wong, the Cleveland lawyer who successfully represented Zeituni, confirmed through a representative last night that she has also been retained to defend Mr Obama.
     "Before he went to America, we all knew him as Omar.  But he dropped that bit, changing it to Obama Onyango, because he said he preferred his African name," said Nelson Ochieng, a cousin in the Kenyan city of Kisumu.
     Mr Obama's landlady in Boston went to court to evict him in 2000 for non-payment of his dollars 500-a-month rent.  He was also a partner in a convenience store that was set up in 1992, and was attacked in a robbery at the shop in 1994 by two men armed with a sawn-off rifle.

Recent Events Have Sharply Refocused My Attention
Urgent Dispatch from Lee Bellinger

     This time it's personal. Let me explain what recently transpired just steps from my own front door... why this incident has raised my level of concern about your personal security as well as my own... and how this and similar events have led me to today's SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.
     I am blessed to live in the beautiful southern city of Charlotte, North Carolina.  Life is good here.  The weather is temperate, and the city has just the right balance of cosmopolitan flair and true southern charm.
     But what happened here in the Queen City just weeks ago, on an early summer weekend, came at me like a cold slap in the face.
     Charlotte police in riot gear had to quell a disturbance of hundreds of violent party crashers – leaving some 70 arrested and one dead.  Our fair city awoke the next morning to entire blocks roped off by yellow police-line tape as detectives worked to determine who spoiled our downtown family-friendly event and turned it into a crime scene of mayhem and death.
     "Chronic unemployment is spilling over into civil unrest..."
     But I don't need to see the police blotter to understand the forces at work here.  Chronic unemployment is spilling over into civil unrest, as idled workers team with those who are simply too lazy to work and act out in rage and anger against those they perceive as privileged.
     As this latest incident of social unraveling played out right here at my own doorstep, I found my attention very sharply refocused.  When it happens in your own town, you realize that yes, the you-know-what has officially hit the fan!  The need for preparedness – for having a personal "Plan B" is now a matter of urgency.
     Eerily similar scenes of rioting and violence occurred throughout the Eastern Seaboard that same weekend, from Long Beach, NY to Nashville, TN.  It's a warning sign of pent-up rage as a disturbing sense of entitlement and permanently high unemployment sinks in. Consider:

• In South Beach, Miami, permanent residents who dared to object to widespread vandalism and violence from the annual "Urban Weekend" crowd are being vilified as racists, not victims.
• In Myrtle Beach, another absolutely charming town here in the Carolinas, the annual Black Bike Week gathering led to 8 hours of violence, including multiple robberies and stabbings.  Objections by locals who had the courage to complain about bloodshed in their streets have not only fallen on deaf ears, but have been dismissed as bigotry.
• In Nashville, special police units had to break up violent, unruly crowds who had taken over a local water park, Wave Country.

How many times have we all tuned into a news report covering the latest disaster or brutal crime spree only to hear victims, neighbors, and bystanders say:

• "I never imagined it could happen here."
• "I thought these things only happened to someone else."
• "Who dreamed this could happen in my own back yard?"

     You know, I've been observing and writing about news and current events in this country for a quarter of a century now.  And, as deadly serious as things have become in our beloved nation in just the last two or three years, I like to think that I've just about seen and heard it all – that nothing is going to actually rattle me.  Then BOOM – it happened virtually in front of my very own doorstop.

Such disturbances by themselves mean little – until you actually do the work to connect the dots. Which is probably why the stodgy national media largely ignored these "local" news stories.  Yet for those of us with our eyes open, there are ample warnings out there that America's social fabric is coming undone.  Greater self-reliance and being ready for anything is a new skill set that smart Americans must tackle and master.

The Age of Preparedness is at Hand

     In the wake of the recent street riot here in Charlotte, I've already redoubled my own personal preparedness efforts.  I'll tell you more about my own personal preparations in an upcoming issue.  And because I don't want to keep you waiting for your first "official" issue of my Ready-for-Anything Report, let me spell out some simple steps you can and must begin to take now to protect your interests and those of your family:

Stash some cash: Keep at least $1,000 in small denominations around the house or other secure location.  Small bills are preferable.

Stash some silver: I strongly recommend you obtain a stash of one-ounce silver rounds or pre-1965 dimes, quarters, or half dollars from a reputable bullion dealer.  Our sister company, Independent Living Bullion (1-800-800-1865), has great products and very competitive prices.  If you don't want to obtain them from my in-house service, that's okay by me!  Any reputable bullion dealer who does not try to upsell you on overpriced "collectibles" is fine.  What matters is that you take action, not from whom you buy them.

Install an alarm system in your home: Home break-ins and home invasions are on the rise.  An alarm system will encourage thieves to look elsewhere for their next score.

Get a gun for home defense: I realize that not everyone is comfortable with a gun in the house.  My suggestion is to get this essential component of home defense anyway.  The National Rifle Association offers great safety courses for beginners.  And if your state has a concealed carry law, get a permit.  Pepper spray isn't a bad idea to have in a home, car, and purse.

Load up on ammunition: The Obama Administration has taken steps to limit the public's access to ammunition.  There have been shortages as more and more people are stocking up.  I suggest you even consider obtaining an ammo reload kit.

Establish an emergency escape plan: Don't wait for an actual emergency before you work out the details of leaving your home in a hurry.  Make a checklist of travel essentials, place them in a duffel bag, and place it in a closet for immediate departure.  This can also save your life if you decide to stay home and ride it all out.  What you don't want to have to do is fight crowds to get to your pharmacy, or get groceries, or get water.  Establish an emergency meeting place for your family to regroup, and put the written plan as well as the routes in the glove box of every family car.

Personal preparedness is the wave of the future.  Being ready for anything liberates you from the herd.  You will not only sleep better at night, you will in fact be safer.

Does this make you wonder?     The great mystery..............          Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from President Obama's past saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc.?  Not one person has ever come forward from his past. WHERE ARE THE GIRLFRIENDS?  [Or, ...where are his boyfriends? -- rfh]      I hadn't thought about this - but where are O's past girlfriends - surely he had at least one? No past girl friends popping up anywhere? Strange - strange to the point of being downright weird!          OK, this is just plain old common sense, no political agendas for either side. Just common knowledge for citizens of a country, especially American citizens, who know every little tidbit about every other president (and their wives) that even know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused of adultery, or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace or Truman played the piano.      We are Americans! Our Media vets these things out! We are known for our humanitarian interests and caring for our 'fellow man.' We care, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president.            Honestly, and this is a personal thing ... but it's bugged me for years that no one who ever dated him ever showed up. Taken his charisma, which caused the women to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some lady would not have missed the opportunity....      Where are his girlfriends?      Nope... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy," or "What a great dancer!"  Now look at the rest of what we know... no classmates, not even the recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him.      Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Check for groomsmen. Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony.       Has anyone talked to the professors?  Isn't it odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.       We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed. Biden's aneurisms are no secret.  Look at Cheney and Clinton-we all know about their heart problems. How could I have left out Wild Bill before or during the White House?                                         VERY, VERY STRANGE..                This should really be a cause for great concern.  To those who voted for him, you may have elected an unqualified, inexperienced shadow man. Reminds me of The Manchurian Candidate....              Let's face it.  As insignificant as we all are .. someone whom we went to school with remembers our name or face ... someone remembers we were the clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something about us.             George Stephanopoulos of ABC News said the same thing during the 2008 campaign.  He questions why no one has acknowledged the president was in their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on campus.             Stephanopoulos also was a classmate of Obama at Columbia -- the class of 1984.  He says he never had a single class with him.             While he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class remember him?  And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records?             NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA !             Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him.            Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983  In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia.  EVER!            Nobody recalls him.  Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of  '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that."  Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him.  At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class?  Me.  No one ever heard of Barack! Federal Agents Told to Reduce Border Arrests This is no April Fool's joke!      An Arizona sheriff will be testifying under oath next month that U.S. Border Patrol officials have repeatedly told him to reduce - at times even stop - arrests of illegal immigrants caught trying to cross the U.S. border.      Just today, Minuteman PAC heard of this outrageous deception put forth by the Obama Administration in a desperate attempt to make Sec. of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano's claim that the border was more secure than ever, match with the statistics.      Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever revealed that a supervisor with the U.S. Border Patrol told him as recently as this month that the federal agency's office on Arizona's southern border was under orders to keep apprehension numbers down during specific reporting periods.      The senior supervisor with the U.S. Border Patrol then went on to explain about how their mission is not to 'scare people back' and that the supervisor had to go back to his guys and "tell them not to catch anybody, that their job is to chase people away?" "They were not to catch anyone, arrest anyone. Their job was to set up posture, to intimidate people, to get them to go back."       Sheriff Dever plans to relay the substance of these conversations when he testifies under oath next month before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.      Dever's charges were vigorously denied by a commander with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection saying "the mission of Border Patrol - does not waiver based on political climate."   Sure it doesn't.      The Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Border Patrol have already come under fire for the methodology used and conclusions drawn 'showing' that the U.S.-Mexico border is more secure.      Regardless of methodology, Sheriff Dever said the numbers Sec.      "Feeling pain at the pump?  Gas prices have doubled since Mr. Obama took office.  According to the GasBuddy gasoline price tracking web site, the price of a gallon of regular gas was around $1.79 when Mr. Obama took office. Today the national average is $3.58. The lowest average price in the continental United States is $3.31 in Tulsa Oklahoma, the highest is $4.14 in Santa Barbara, CA.

UPDATE…OF COURSE:  Brazilian Oil Drilling

Even though President Obama is against offshore drilling for our country, he signed an executive order to loan $2 Billion of our taxpayer dollars (which we can't afford to loan since we're broke) to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (the 8th largest company in the entire world) to drill for oil off the coast of Brazil! (Petrobras).  The oil that comes from this operation is for the sole purpose and use of China and NOT THE USA !

Now here's the real clincher…the Chinese government is under contract to purchase all the oil this field will produce, which is hundreds of millions of barrels" … We have absolutely no gain from this transaction whatsoever!

Wait, it gets more interesting.

Guess who is the largest individual stockholder of this Brazilian Oil Company andwho would benefit most from this?  It is American BILLIONAIRE, George Soros, who was President Obama's most generous financial supporter during his campaign.  If you are able to connect the dots and follow the money, you are probably as upset as I am.  Not a word of this transaction was broadcast on any of the other news networks!  Are they doing their job?  Think about it.
