     Members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus have written to President Obama asking him to correct a speech he gave in Indonesia incorrectly replacing the nation's motto of "In God We Trust" with "E pluribus unum."
     The letter also cites a series of situations in which Obama has failed to include the reference to the "Creator" when quoting the Declaration of Independence.
     WND has reported on numerous situations where the president's quotations have left out references to God or the Creator. 
     In the newest development, U.S. Rep. J. Randy Forbes of Virginia and 42 bipartisan members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus have dispatched a letter over Obama's statement to a Jakarta audience that "E Pluribus unum" is the national motto.
     Actually, it's "In God We Trust."
     "For the president of the United States to incorrectly state something as foundational as our national motto in another country is unacceptable," said Forbes.  "The president is the primary representative of our nation to the world, and whether mistake or intention, his actions cast aside an integral part of American society."
He said, "President Reagan once warned that 'If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.'"
     It was during Obama's expedition to the Far East when he went to Jakarta on Nov. 10.
Speaking at the University of Indonesia, Obama said:
I believe that the history of both America and Indonesia should give us hope.  It is a story written into our national mottos.  In the United States, our motto is E pluribus unum – out of many, one. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika – unity in diversity.  We are two nations, which have traveled different paths.  Yet our nations show that hundreds of millions who hold different beliefs can be united in freedom under one flag.  And we are now building on that shared humanity – through young people who will study in each other's schools; through the entrepreneurs forging ties that can lead to greater prosperity; and through our embrace of fundamental democratic values and human aspirations.
     The letter explains that "In God We Trust" has been foundational throughout the history of the United States, from presidential proclamations to engravings in both House and Senate chambers.  In 1956, Congress passed and President Eisenhower signed into law establishing "In God We Trust" as the official national motto of the United States.

     "'E pluribus unum' is not our national motto," the letter, dated yesterday, said.  "As members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, a bipartisan group of members of the United States House of Representatives, we are dedicated to preserving America's religious heritage and protecting our religious liberty."

     The letter also noted that on Oct. 18 during a fundraiser Obama omitted the "Creator" from a reference to the Declaration of Independence.
     "Once may be a mistake.  But twice is a pattern.  These omissions and inaccuracies are a part of a larger pattern we are seeing with the president where he is inaccurately reflecting America and undercutting important parts of our nation's history," said Forbes.  "Trust in God is embedded in the fabric of society and history in the United States.
"If we allow these threads to be pulled, we will begin to unravel the very freedoms that birthed America," he said.
     It was martial arts champion, actor and WND columnist Chuck Norris who noted Obama actually has omitted "Creator" seven times in just the past few months:

  • On Oct. 18, 2010, at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dinner in Rockville, Md.:
    "It has to do with this idea that was started by 13 colonies that decided to throw off the yoke of an empire, and said, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that each of us are endowed with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.'"

  • On Oct. 17, 2010 at a reception for Gov. Ted Strickland in Chagrin Fall, Ohio.:
    "The idea of America has never been easy.  The notion of 13 colonies coming together and overthrowing the greatest empire in the world, and then drafting a document that says, we find these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights – that's hard."

  • On Sept. 22, 2010, at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee dinner in New York, N.Y.:
    "And what was sustaining us was that sense that – that North Star, that sense that, you know what, if we stay true to our values, if we believe that all people are created equal and everybody is endowed with certain inalienable rights and we're going to make those words live, and we're going to give everybody opportunity, everybody a ladder into the middle class,…"

  • On Sept. 15, 2010, at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 33rd annual awards gala in Washington, D.C.:
    "But over the centuries, what eventually bound us together – what made us all Americans – was not a matter of blood, it wasn't a matter of birth.  It was faith and fidelity to the shared values that we all hold so dear.  We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

  • On Sept. 11, 2010, at the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Va.:
    "For our cause is just.  Our spirit is strong.  Our resolve is unwavering.  Like generations before us, let us come together today and all days to affirm certain inalienable rights, to affirm life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

  • On Sept. 10, 2010, at the president's press conference at the White House:
    "With respect to the mosque in New York, I think I've been pretty clear on my position here, and that is, is that this country stands for the proposition that all men and women are created equal; that they have certain inalienable rights – one of those inalienable rights is to practice their religion freely."
     When WND's correspondent at the White House, Les Kinsolving, raised the question about the omissions, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, "I haven't seen the comments, Lester, but I can assure you the president believes in the Declaration of Independence."
     In a second commentary on the subject, Chuck Norris continued, "The truth is, if you want an accurate religious history of America, you're no longer going to get it from our president, our progressive society or secular schools, at least not without unbiased trained teachers or the induction of a religious curriculum that hasn't tampered and twisted history."
     At the time the declaration was adopted, however, the concept of all being created "equal" was a rare idea.
The Declaration states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

     Even MSNBC’s pro-Obama host Chris Matthews has joined the crowd calling on the president to release his long-form birth certificate to settle the controversy surrounding his birthplace once and for all, saying “if it exists, why not put it out?”
     Matthews has been critical of the so-called “birthers” who insist that Obama was not born in the United States and therefore is ineligible to be president. Some say he was actually born in Kenya, his father’s home country.
     The majority of Americans discount that conspiracy theory. Hawaii state officials insist he was born on the tropical isles, and a legal ad taken out in a local newspaper announcing Obama’s birth days after he was born supports that claim.
     Still, many find it interesting that Obama has continued to refuse to release his long-form birth certificate, and Obama joins just a handful of presidents who have no declared place of birth as a significant national landmark.
     Instead, during the 2008 campaign, Obama’s aides issued a “certification of live birth,” a summary document that does not include the name of the hospital where he was born or the physician who delivered him, information that would be included on the long-form birth certificate.
     Newly elected Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, a Democrat, re-ignited the birther controversy when he said he would ask the state attorney general’s office and health officials how he can make public more of Obama’s birth documentation from Aug. 4, 1961.
     Obama easily could release the document himself or ask state officials to do so.
     During Matthews’ “Hardball” program on Monday night, the MSNBC hosted cited a New York Times poll from April that found that only 58 percent of respondents believe Obama was born in the United States, while 20 percent believe he was not, and 23 percent are unsure.

     “I am not a birther,” Matthews declared. “I am an enemy of the birthers.”
     But he held up the long-form birth certificate of someone who was born the day before Obama, and compared it with the shorter version Obama has released, which to the birthers, he said, “is evidence that he really ain’t one of us.
     “Why has the president himself not demanded that they put out the official document?” Matthews said.
     “Why doesn’t the governor just say, snap it up, whoever’s there at the department of records, send me a copy right now? Why doesn’t the president just say, send me a copy right now? Why doesn’t [White House press secretary Robert] Gibbs and [senior adviser David] Axelrod say, let’s just get this crappy story dead? Why not do it?
     “The department out there just said the other day that there is such a thing. It exists. The original document of his birth is available. They have it in storage, they said. And if it exists, why not put it out?
     “Will there be any harm done by releasing the original document?”
     After a discussion with panelists Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune and David Corn of Mother Jones, Matthews concluded: “I’m sure we’ve gotten to the bottom of this as much as mortal men can.”
     But Obama’s critics — many of whom don’t buy in the birther theory he was born outside the United States — still note a pattern of secrecy surrounding much of Obama’s life before he entered politics. They note that many Obama never has unveiled many key documents that presidential candidates released to the press and public.
     For example:
  • During the presidential campaign, Obama released just one brief document detailing his personal health, while GOP opponent John McCain released what he said was his complete medical file totaling more than 1,500 pages. The Obama campaign eventually released some routine lab-test results and electrocardiograms for Obama.
  • Obama refused to offer his official papers as a state legislator in Illinois and did not produce correspondence, such as letters from lobbyists and other information, from his days in the Illinois State Senate.
  • Obama did not release his client list as an attorney or his billing records.
  • Obama declined to release his college records from Occidental College, where he studied for two years before transferring to Columbia University.
  • Obama’s campaign refused to give Columbia University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in political science, permission to release his transcripts. Such transcripts would list the courses Obama took, and his grades.
  • Obama’s college dissertation, reportedly titled “Soviet Nuclear Disarmament,” has disappeared from Columbia’s archives.
  • Obama did not agree to the release of his application to the Illinois state bar, which would clear up intermittent allegations that his application to the bar may have been inaccurate.
  • Obama has not released records from his time at Harvard Law School.
  • During his campaign for president, Obama promised he would make his White House “the most open and transparent administration in history.”

Obama Moves to Strengthen Labor Unions - Communists Approve

The best way to keep abreast of the Obama Administration's latest moves is to read the Communist Party USA newszine Peoples World.

     Peoples World labor editor John Wojcik has kindly informed us of new Administration moves to strengthen labor unions.
     Private employers will be required to post large signs informing workers about their right to form unions under a new rule the Obama administration plans to institute by executive order.
     The plan received less than the amount of publicity that might have been expected because it was announced the week before Christmas when the main focus of the news was on the legislative battles in Congress.
    The National Labor Relations Board plans to issue a rule requiring almost all employers to post notices in employee break rooms or other prominent spots that explain workers' rights to bargain collectively, distribute union literature or engage in other union activity without reprisal.
    In the past the NLRB usually made policy on a case-by-case basis during labor-management disputes.
    The decision to issue the new order steps up even further the more aggressively pro-labor role the board has played during the Obama administration.
     The president first signaled his determination to strengthen the board's role in protecting organizing rights when he made several recess appointments to give the NLRB its first Democratic majority in ten years.
     The recess appointments were made because because the presiden't candidates were held up for months over GOP claims that a former AFL-CIO lawyer, Craig Becker, would be too pro-union.
     The administration's new rule is opposed by big business which sees it as an attempt to achieve, by executive order, some of what labor and its allies have not been able to achieve on the legislative front. Republican filibusters have blocked passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier to form unions. The EFCA would allow workers to form a union as soon as a majority sign cards expressing their desire to be in a union.
     Others who oppose the rule see it as a step in the direction of reversing a long-term decline in union membership. Only 7.2 percent of the natioon's work force is now unionized. Anti-union forces fear that widespread knowledge of union organizing rights will begin to reverse that trend.
     The rule will not take effect until late February. From now until then, the NLRB is taking comments.

Liberals Give 'Til It Hurts (You)

     Liberals never tire of discussing their own generosity, particularly when demanding that the government take your money by force to fund shiftless government employees overseeing counterproductive government programs.
     They seem to have replaced "God" with "Government" in scriptural phrases such as "love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." (Matthew 22:37)
     This week, we'll take a peek at the charitable giving of these champions of the poor.
     In 2009, the Obamas gave 5.9 percent of their income to charity, about the same as they gave in 2006 and 2007. In the eight years before he became president, Obama gave an average of 3.5 percent of his income to charity, upping that to 6.5 percent in 2008.
     The Obamas' charitable giving is equally divided between "hope" and "change."
     George W. Bush gave away more than 10 percent of his income each year he was president, as he did before becoming president.
     Thus, in 2005, Obama gave about the same dollar amount to charity as President George Bush did, on an income of $1.7 million -- more than twice as much as President Bush's $735,180. Again in 2006,    Bush gave more to charity than Obama on an income one-third smaller than Obama's.
     In the decade before Joe Biden became vice president, the Bidens gave a total -- all 10 years combined -- of $3,690 to charity, or 0.2 percent of their income. They gave in a decade what most Americans in their tax bracket give in an average year, or about one row of hair plugs.
     Of course, even in Biden's stingiest years, he gave more to charity than Sen. John Kerry did in 1995, which was a big fat goose egg. Kerry did, however, spend half a million dollars on a 17th-century Dutch seascape painting that year, as Peter Schweizer reports in his 2008 book, "Makers and Takers."
    To be fair, 1995 was an off-year for Kerry's charitable giving. The year before, he gave $2,039 to charity, and the year before that a staggering $175.  He also dropped a $5 bill in the Salvation Army pail and almost didn't ask for change.
     In 1998, Al Gore gave $353 to charity -- about a day's take for a lemonade stand in his neighborhood. That was 10 percent of the national average for charitable giving by people in the $100,000-$200,000 income bracket. Gore was at the very top of that bracket, with an income of $197,729.
     When Sen. Ted Kennedy released his tax returns to run for president in the '70s, they showed that Kennedy gave a bare 1 percent of his income to charity -- or, as Schweizer says, "about as much as Kennedy claimed as a write-off on his 50-foot sailing sloop Curragh." (Cash tips to bartenders and cocktail waitresses are not considered charitable donations.)
     The Democratic base gives to charity as their betters do. At the same income, a single mother on welfare is seven times less likely to give to charity than a working poor family that attends religious services.
     In 2006 and 2007, John McCain, who files separately from his rich wife, gave 27.3 percent and 28.6 percent of his income to charity.
     In 2005, Vice President Cheney gave 77 percent of his income to charity. He also shot a lawyer in the face, which I think should count for something.
     In a single year, Schweizer reports, Rush Limbaugh "gave $109,716 to 'various individuals in need of assistance mainly due to family illnesses,' $52,898 to 'children's case management organizations,' including 'various programs to benefit families in need,' $35,100 for 'Alzheimer's community care -- day care for families in need,' and $40,951 for air conditioning units and heaters delivered to troops in Iraq." (Rush also once gave $50 to Maxine Waters after mistaking her for a homeless person.)
     The only way to pry a liberal from his money is to hold tickertape parades for him, allowing him to boast about his charity in magazines and on TV.
     Isn't that what Jesus instructed in the Sermon on the Mount?
     "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do ... But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:2-4)
     In my Bible, that passage is illustrated with a photo of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. At least the hypocrites in the Bible, Redmond, Wash., and Omaha, Neb., who incessantly brag about their charity actually do pony up the money.
     Elected Democrats crow about how much they love the poor by demanding overburdened taxpayers fund government redistribution schemes, but can never seem to open their own wallets.
The only evidence we have that Democrats love the poor is that they consistently back policies that will create more of them.

     Leaders in the pro-life community are angrily responding to the news that the Obama administration added "death panels" to the ObamaCare implementation.

Republican Party Chair Michael Steele to Join Pro-Life Debate
     Michael Steele, the embattled chairman of the national Republican Party, says he will participate in a January 3 debate co-sponsored by a leading pro-life organization.
     Steele confirmed today to the Daily Caller, a conservative news web site that is sponsoring the debate with the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List and Americans for Tax Reform, that he will face off with five rivals seeking to lead the party against pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
     The confirmation is surprising because some party insiders speculated Steele would not participate but would defend his record in private before the 168 members of the Republican National Committee who will determine the chairman of the party and lead its efforts to fundraise for get out of the vote efforts supporting what is expected to be a pro-life nominee facing Obama in 2012.
     Because the position is so important in terms of representing the Republican Party's pro-life views as a spokesman and setting up the presidential election, which has monumental abortion implications, the SBA List has been active in the debate. It has urged pro-life advocates to contact to urge pro-life questions be asked and it conducted a series of interview questions with most of the chairman candidates on pro-life issues. Full story at
Obama Solidifies Democrats for 2012, Palin Lacks Support
     A new CNN poll released today shows pro-abortion President Barack Obama is solidifying his support as he heads into the year leading up to he expected re-election bid.
     On the other hand, the survey finds former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin not coalescing Republican voters behind her potential bid for the GOP nomination to take on Obama.
     The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll (pdf) found 78 percent of Democrats say they want to see Obama become the Democratic Party's standard-bearer again in 2012 compared with 19 percent saying they would prefer someone else. The 19 percent number is the lowest since March, when CNN began asking the question of voters nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Public Policy Polling institute released a new poll today as well with more bad news for Palin.
     "We've polled Palin's favorability in ten states over the last couple months. In Alaska just 33% of voters have a favorable opinion of her to 58% with a negative one," polling direct Tom Jensen explains. "The only place where fewer voters see her positively than her own home state is dark blue Massachusetts." Full story at

Mitch Daniels: Truce Directed at Liberals, Not for Social Conservatives
      Indiana governor Mitch Daniels has given yet another interview in which he talks about a social issues truce he put forward this summer that upset pro-life conservatives.
     The interview with WANE follows on the one he gave the Indianapolis Star in which he appeared to shift position and suggest the truce was meant for liberals, not social conservatives concerned about issues like abortion.
      In the Star interview, Daniels suggested the truce was meant for liberal activists like those who favored repealing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy — and he continued that line of thinking in the WANE question and answer session.
     Asked if the truce "wasn't anything to alarm social conservatives" he responded, "First of all, it wasn't directed to them. It was directed as much to people who, for instance, are very aggressively trying to change the definition of marriage… Stand down for awhile. Let's save America." Full story at
Pro-Abortion Obama EEOC Nominee Chai Feldblum Approved
Lost in the shuffle in the last week of the most recent session of the Senate was news that another one of President Barack Obama's pro-abortion nominees was confirmed.
     The U.S. Senate last week confirmed four of President Obama's long-pending nominations to positions at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, including the nomination of pro-abortion activist Chai Feldblum as a commissioner.
     The EEOC enforces federal laws barring discrimination in employment and the Obama appointment could impact abortion as it relates to employment issues as could impact abortion as it relates to employment issues.
     Feldblum isn't known by most Americans, but she worked for the pro-abortion Human Rights Campaign Fund and, from 1986-1987, was a legislative counsel for the pro-abortion ACLU. Full story at

"Voluntary" Death Panels May Forgo Assisted Suicide Talk
     The debate over the death panels that appear to have been added back to the ObamaCare law continues and the complexity of federal regulations is causing considerable confusion.
     Early reports indicated the death panels, the annual discussions authorized under ObamaCare at taxpayer expense where physicians confer with patients about end-of-life decisions, indicated they could possible include a discussion of assisted suicide in the three states where one may be obtained.
     But a key word — making the discussions voluntary — appears to have eliminated that possibility as does the fact that the discussions will center on advanced directives, which can't include assisted suicides.
     "These things can become very complicated–and finding anything in federal law and regulations is increasingly difficult," pro-life bioethics attorney Wesley J. Smith writes today after conducting additional research on the death panels. Regarding them allowing assisted suicides, he says, "The answer appears to be: Probably not, at least, not yet." Nebraska Bill Bans Telemed Abortions Using RU 486 Drug
     A proposed law in Nebraska would stop the telemed abortion process currently employed at Planned Parenthood centers in neighboring Iowa from expanding there.
     Telemed abortions are those where women visit an abortion center and don't meet in person with a physician before taking the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug, as the FDA suggests. Instead, they are only given access to a doctor over a Skype computer connection before being prescribed the drug that has killed potentially dozens worldwide and injured more than 1,100 in the United States alone as of 2006, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
     The legislative proposal would prohibit Nebraska physicians from prescribing and dispensing the abortion drug via the Internet, which Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has done in Iowa in more than 2,000 cases since mid-2008. Full story at
Chief Rabbis in Israel Oppose "Abortion Epidemic"
     Yona Metzger and Shlomo Amar, the chief rabbis in Israel, are calling on Israeli residents to fight the "abortion epidemic" they say is ravaging the country.
      The two Jewish leaders sent a letter to all rabbis across the country, according to a CBN News report, citing a portion of the Torah from Exodus that relates the story of Hebrew midwives refusing an edict from Pharaoh to drown newborn children by throwing them in the Nile River.
     Jews point to the teachings in the first chapter of the book of Exodus when Hebrew midwives Pu'ah and Shifra refuse to listen to the King of Egypt's order to kill all male babies. "But the midwives feared God and did not as the king of Egypt commanded," the scriptures say. Full story at
Catholic Bishop Right to Push Back Against Culture of Death

     Bishop Thomas Olmsted, of the Phoenix, Arizona Diocese took the extraordinary step last week of removing Saint Joseph Hospital's Catholic status.
     The measure comes after last May's confrontation between Sister Margaret McBride, the hospital's administrator who gave permission for an 11-week pregnant woman with a severe case of pulmonary hypertension to have an abortion, and Bishop Olmsted who notified her in private that her actions were formal cooperation in the child's death, and therefore incurred a latae sententiae (automatic) excommunication.
Much confusion swirls around this case, and needs to be cleared in the interest of defending the good name of a good bishop. Full story at
Pennsylvania Parental Consent Abortion Law Gets Legal Aid
     Attorneys representing pro-life legal groups are giving aid and support to a parental consent law that requires minor teens to get their parent's permission for an abortion.
     Officials with the Alliance Defense Fund and Americans United for Life submitted a friend-of-the-court brief to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in the first-ever review of that court of the pro-life law. The groups are representing the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, the Pennsylvania Family Institute and nearly 70 state legislators who support the law protecting a parent's right to be involved in their child's decision regarding abortion. Alaska Governor Wants Court to Reconsider Teen Abortion Law
     Alaska Governor Sean Parnell asked a court last week to reconsider its decision from earlier this month to severely weaken a parental notification law.Superior Court Judge John Suddock let the law voters approved in August stand but weakened it to the point that pro-life groups say it is now ineffective.
     He said abortion practitioners should not face prison sentences for failing to comply with it. He also removed a section allowing parents to file a civil lawsuit against abortion practitioners who don't comply seeking financial damages. Full story at
Canadian Supreme Court Decision Could Lead to Cloning Research
     Canadian pro-life advocates are concerned a recent decision by the Supreme Court of Canada could pave the way for grisly research involving cloning and merging different species.
     Last week, on a split 4-4-1 decision, the nation's high court left what pro-life advocates say is a legal void that could lead to cloning research involving the fusing of humans with animals and results in the destruction of human embryos — unique human beings just days into their existence.
